I really hope she gets to play Eliza!
This is a really cute article! I'm glad Kelli is getting a lot of press- she deserves it!
And, ditto on her playing Eliza.
Aww, the pictures are adorable.
I wish that i'd have such a grand Broadway entrance (come on Friday, first job on Monday)! Great article.

Um, who's called her a "modern-day Mary Martin"?
She hasn't had shows written about her, and hasn't won a single Tony that she's been nominated for (when Martin won 3 of her 4). O'Hara also lacks the warmth to her voice that Martin had. And, last I checked, Martin toured multiple times, and O'Hara has once.
Otherwise nice article about a great singer (even if I am not a fan).
True, Kelli hasn't won a Tony but being nominated for 3 by the time you're 32 isn't so bad- I mean that's one for every decade she's been alive. Plus, you know, she can act too.
Chita Rivera didn't win a Tony until her fifth nomination, and that doesn't mean she's not talnted.
Every day, I envy Kelli O'Hara more and more. Beautiful, talented, wonderful career, makes sopranos look great. AUGH! I'm such a speck on humanity. XP

becoz_i_knew_you-
When did I say she wasn't talented? I just said the comparision of her to Mary Martin isn't very accurate.
A Modern Day Barbara Cook, sure. Mary Martin, no.

chinkie...that was great! Great picture of her, too :)
I didn't know Kelli was so assertive, she seems so mild...good for her!
It's really too bad that she has not been given a Tony, yet, because she deserves one, especially for SP. I guess this is because she is so low key about her career;if she made more noise, maybe they would award her (like other actors who currently won....
Her time will come, she's still young :)
Such a cute picture! Nice article as well.
If she does play Eliza on Broadway (which would be out-of-this-world awesome), she could very well win her long-deserved Tony.
My Fair Lady is long overdue for a Broadway revival. Let's get it together already.
I would LOVE to see Kelli O'Hara play Eliza in such a revival, but I don't know that I want it more than for Laura Benanti to do it. I want both! LOL
(Off-topic, but since you went there:
-- "I guess this is because she is so low key about her career;if she made more noise, maybe they would award her (like other actors who currently won.... "
You're right. "more noise". That's exactly why Ms. LuPone won her sincerely deserved Tony. Jesus.)
I never even thought of Laura Benanti. Either way, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

Ditto, jennyish.
Aside from the amazingness of Kelli O'Hara as Eliza, I'm just thrilled to hear that producers are trying to build a revival around her because it means My Fair Lady might finally be back on Broadway soon!

I think Laura would be awesome, and the part befits her better.

I definitely tend to agree with the Mary Martin comparison more than Barbara Cook. I think Cheno is the modern day Barbara Cook/Barbara Harris.
Such a cute article! Thanks for sharing!!!
Kelli O'Hara was PERFECTION as Eliza in the NY Philharmonic performance in 2007. Absolute PERFECTION.
I will be ecstatic if this comes to pass.
I ADORE her.
Absolutely ADORE her.
