Actually yes, I do know at least one's bank account. None of my ensemble friends are "wealthy" or would claim themselves as so.... Broadway has a misleading stigma that it pays well, like doing TV or movies, when in fact, it doesn't. Yes, it's a good living and definitely beats working behind a desk but you don't get rich being an ensemble member. I've dated someone on Broadway (ensemble) for four years and the pay is good, but probably not as much as an outsider would think.

This is why many on Broadway seek to break into film and tv and not limit themselves just to stage. If they can land a national commercial, thats another road to quick and easy big bucks.

If they've just completed a long successful run or string of gigs, hopefully they've invested some sizable earnings for the dry spells. This allows them to be a bit more choosy as to when and what to pursue.

It's a very tough business. You ride that big wave as long as you can, knowing it will sooner or later wash ashore. Then you swim back out waiting for the next choice wave to come along. Unfortuantely there's a lot of other fish in the seas competing for the waves.

Jade, I don't think it was a question of their daily schedule, more like how they survive while they're not working.

Yes, they are normal people. One would hope they're eating and sleeping during a run, too, or that would make for one lousy performance and a really unhealthy performer!
