Oh, I love guessing games...
I wish I could tell you something definitive, but I can't. Sorry.

Hopefully in the 2005-6 season.

Yes, hopefully it will be next season and no later. I don't want to see an ugly battle between Disney and the Weisslers for Kerry Butler.
Although how great would a fight between the Weisslers and anyone else for KZ be?

Oh that would be great. But Karen is perfection in that role and she damn well better play it on Broadway if/when the time comes.
Yeah, Karen MUST come back.
I would also love to see Kerry play Ariel opposite my Emily as Ursula, though...
Karen was perfection last night on the stage of the Kauffman Concert Hall at the 92nd Street Y - and her final two numbers were Hey Big Spender and If My Friends Could See Me Now. Yeah. She kicked ASS. Stupid Weisslers.

What concert was that Rath?
Kerry would be a great Ariel but I still say that Patti LuPone or Eartha Kitt should play Ursula.
It was Lyrics and Lyricists. A tribute to Dorothy Fields, with Billy Stritch, Julie Wilson, and Karen. A fabulous evening.

Yeah, I am really pulling for this show to come to Broadway soon. I saw the movie the other night, and I got really excited.
Come one people who are in charge of these things!

I feel its in the same vein as DRS and that is a VERY good thing.
That is an extremely good thing.
LF - it's almost verbatim to the movie.

Yes, Rath, anyone who saw Karen in CONTACT and then saw Charlotte D'A.'s pathetic stab at the role knows just how a battle between those two would come out!
I just missed Charlotte, thank the lord. Because then I really would have commited suicide by playbill in that show.
MEF- i do not want to see Little Mermaid on bway even if it gives my favorite actress a leading role.

I say Opposite in SF and was underwhelmed..it needs alot of fixin to be worth the trip.
I totally agree, Singingbackup. There were a lot of good things about The Opposite of Sex in SF, mainly Kerry Butler. She and her character were just about the only things that don't need fixing. The show as a whole very quickly falls in to the predictable "every scene/character gets a song" mode. Worse than that, the songs don't mesh at all with the book -- the lyrics don't match the way characters speak in dialogue and the songs don't come out of the action. There's a repeating "I feel a song coming on" vibe to the whole thing. I didn't think there was one memorable/distinctive song in the whole score.
Wow, this all sounds more negative than I intended it. Like I said, Kerry was wonderful, and they're really on to something with the way her charcter is used in the show. The rest of it is just odd. It's not awful, it just doesn't work.

MYB---It could be the source material. I think it's a good film, not a great one....they really stick close to the movie script and that could be problematic.
