For the record, I live in Mississippi. Very far down south and there is culture and theatre. There are six theatre companies in the three surrounding towns I live in. Not to mention the countless theatre companies in Jackson, Biloxi, Gulfport and such.

I just hate when people try to pigeon hold the south to being nothing but uneducated rednecks.

Overkill, the world has become cattier. It's like somehow folks think it's now a virtue instead of an occasional amusing quirk. i blame Canada.

To bring us back on topic, here's what i've heard, who has dish?

there is a "major name" director attached, and it's not Francesca Z who has on her track record a GOOD version in Anaheim and of course the misfire of MERMAID in NYC

the score and revised libretto is ready

DizzyTheats seeks a regional to launch it, hopefully before end of calendar year 2011

The only thing I know is that on Alan Menken's website it's listed as coming to Bway in 2012.

yep which is why they'd be seeking a regional ASAP....MERMAID/Denver type track.

who saw TARZAN in Utah this past summer? or have plans to see MERMAID at Wichita or Utah this coming summer? i heard there may be a third regional that got MERMAID but can't find it listed...anyone? Bueller?

so got surprised for Xmas with a whirlwind trip to NYC....already have ELF for Sunday night, might want to see VERGE again to see changes since previews, but what is playing Xmas Nite? BETE? is TENOR still up? any recs? slots avail are Sat nite and Sun mat....thnx. Maybe the NUTCRACKER at Lincoln Center? seen most of of the musicals already and DAISY.

so ended up seeing PEE WEE, VERGE REDUX, and ELF before storm trapped me here. BUT getting also to see a lot of peeps I know here, so all good. Just haven't heard much else about my obsession, the Disney toon-to-tuner musicales.

What ever happened to Dumbo? There was a news story a year or so ago that it was going to be the next show Disney was adapting for the stage.

mebbe after the holidays more Disneyphiles will be back on the boards, their Mickey Trees and their Tink Tees stored away again....had not heard of DUMBO in prep, only the P PAN prequel, plus ALADDIN and MERMAID regionals....

yes, the heelys in MERMAID were a mis-step. But if you doubt the Disney magic live on stage, just catch the MARY POPPINS tour....magically delicious.
