#0why the need.....
Posted: 12/17/03 at 5:22pmto post every headline on bway.com and playbill.com? It is safe to say that everyone here has a computer and likes theater. I think it is also safe to say that the above attributes make it possible for the same people to see these headlines on the aforementioned sites. So why the need to post them here? It's annoying as hell. It's not like you are breaking the news to us. Contribute something interesting and stop trying to be Jimmy Olsen. Updated On: 12/17/03 at 05:22 PM

Is hell really annoying? I don't think that is was the word you were looking for...

Posted: 12/17/03 at 5:36pmI think people post headlines here because they wish to discuss them.
#3re: re: re: why the need.....
Posted: 12/17/03 at 6:02pmConsidering this IS a message board...I would have no idea why people would post headlines and then discuss it...

Good grief, this is a new low in nitpicking. Whoever posts those -- our host here? -- wants to make sure everyone knows the latest. Call it being thorough. And being thoughtful. And by the way, since I've been here (mid-October), on a number occasions I've posted my POV on DIRECT LIFTS from the articles in red at the top, only to have subsequent posts write "where did you hear that, Auggie?" So even cited by a generous-spirited administrator, they are ignored by many otherwise discerning people. Which I what I suggest anyone should do who finds their presence here too distracting.
For an example of how useful facts gleaned from said pieces can be, look no further than Playbill quoted tonight: considering how much hand-wringing goes on about the absences of Donna Murphy ... isn't it efficient having one site inform you she's returning tonight??
One person's information overload is another's time saver.

Posted: 12/17/03 at 7:59pmSometimes I miss the headlines from all the various sites. I don't always catch everything. If it's something you already know, then don't click on it and read it.

Posted: 12/17/03 at 8:02pmi agree. many times, i don't even look at the headlines on this site, and don't go to the other broadway sites everyday. i click on posts that look interesting and i would not have known that NBS is closing if not for a post here. we're here to discuss broadway, so why not post those headlines to hear the reactions of our peers.

Posted: 12/19/03 at 11:36ambased on the amount of PM's i have received I am not the only one who feels this way. Instead of just posting a headline, why not start a thread with your opinion on a subject. For those of you who say that they like thses headline threads because they dont have time to look at playbill or bway.com, you give lazy a whole new meaning.

Personally, I don't mind the head lines. It's not that I'm lazy, because I'm not. It does start topics for discussion, and I normally miss some of the headlines on Playbill.com and Broadway.com. Also, if I miss a day checking on those websites, I can normally find what I've missed here.
For example, I read about the Wicked cd signing on this website because I didn't get to check Playbill.com the day it was announced.

Posted: 12/19/03 at 11:51amso people are being lazy not visiting other theatre sites while they're (we're) being lazy sitting at our computers avoiding work we should be doing? don't think so. this excellent site is a broadway hub. we have a chat, news, who's who and a ton of other great stuff. no one is going to like everything. i love finding the news here from other sites.

I think somone forgot to take his or her happy pills.
Keep the headlines. It saves me the time of looking at playbill.com or broadway.com. It's not about being lazy. It's about managing one's time...
