why would Playbill accept ad dollars from the State of North Carolina???

Just got an email from Playbill Club ... it included a large display ad for visitnc.com. All things considered, this strikes me as disproportionately tone-deaf. With all due respect to the many Tar Heels on these boards (have loved almost all your posts and every one of your avatars, CarlosAlberto!), what would cause Playbill of all organizations to think that North Carolina was a good target for the theater community???



Entities like Playbill should be telling entities like the North Carolina Convention & Visitors Bureau just how detrimental to business HATE can be. Send back the money, Playbill, and tell NC to repeal HB 2!!

1.) much of the time, the ad buying is done by firms and agencies. Not the actual entity advertising. It's possible Playbill wasn't aware of this.

2.) even if they were, perhaps they were okay with it. A dollar is a dollar and Playbill is a for-profit business. They need that money.
