We are going to be visiting NY from Texas and are wondering what's the best way to go about getting tickets to Wicked. I realize we are probably one of thousands of people wondering the same thing, but I am willing to give it a shot. What's the best route? Cancellation line or lottery? We will be in NY from 12/27 to 12/30. Are the lines at the BO really affected by the weather?
Thanks for any and all responses!

Me and my dad got ours off Ebay. It gets pretty pricey though. Just if your wondering ours were $300 for 2 tickets in third row right orchestra.
Much love

I think in terms of odds, the cancellation line is the best bet. I've tried the lottery so many times and have never won. The people at the B/O said on average, there are 15-20 cancellation tickets per show (the Gershwin is HUGE). So get to the line early! And yes, the weather affects the lottery and canc. line.
I would try for the partial view seats. They are sometimes available, and are half the ticket price. You can see most of the show and just miss parts of the back of the set, not a big deal in my opinion. Go to ticketmaster and enter the price amount. 55$
If price is no object, you can always get Premium Seats for $250 apiece. Quite pricey, but you won't have trouble getting seats.
Also, avoid getting seats too far back. Because of the size of the theatre, you will see absolutely nothing. But you'll hear every over-miked note (as will the state of California).
I don't think they have the opportunity to be picky about seats considering how hard it is to get tickets.
Cancellation is definitely your best bet. Get there early! Hopefully the cold weather will deter others from doing the same.
