An extra wears the Witch's costume and shakes and thne the Witch comes on being all pretty.

so theres just 2 witchs or what? i thought that it'd be 2 witches but than when does the real one come on and the other one go off?

There isn't a double because you can see it's bernadette in the dvd. i believe the hands and face are in someway connceted to the costume and then it is taken off to reveal the white dress.

wicked geek, they edited the dvd a bit, it was not entirely shot live. the way it essentially works is that for the scene or two before the transformation an extra in a mask and cloak fills in while the actress playing the witch gets changed and as you speculated puts on a cloak with a connected mask and gloves and comes back out in time to transform

In the original, the Witch went offstage to bring the dead cow back to life. Ath that time she was replaced by a double while she did her costume and makeup change. She spoke her lines from offstage while the double lip synched them.

Oh damn, i had heard that the producers had a secret clone of bernedette locked up and only let out during that scene.
