It was good, not great. Brooke was not as bad as I expected, not as good as the critics said. She held her own, dancing and singing up a storm. Gregg was great like usual, but the stand out was Jennifer Wills. She was better than I can even put into words. At the stage door, everyone signed and was very receptive of the audience.
yankeefan007, Did you see Wonderful Town with Donna Murphy? I saw it with Donna Murphy, and I'm curious about seeing it with Brooke Shields. I saw her perform at the parade, and it wasn't as good as the critics said. She was not that great compared to Donna Murphy.
Did you like it? I saw it once with Linda. The 3 other times were with Donna lol. I thought that she did a very good job, but it was totally different from Donna Murphy. What did you think?
glad you liked it. i saw it in sept, with linda and thought she was great. after seeing the performance on the parade i might to see it again with brooke.

bdwy belle---I agree with you. I saw it twice with Donna M and after seeing Brooke perform in the parade----I decided not to see it again. I'll remember it with Donna's expressions and movements----IMO much better.
justafan22, I still want to go see it just for the heck of it. I also really loved the show, so I still want to see it one last time. But I didn't think that Brooke's performance at the parade made an amazing impression.
The only person who I think deserved to take over the part of Ruth Sherwood was Lucie Arnaz. She would be great in the part, and after all, Donna replaced her in the show "They're Playing Our Song," so it would be fitting that she take over in "Wonderful Town."

At what point did Donna Murphy replace Lucie Arnaz in They're Playing Our Song? Murphy went into the show as one of the Sonia voices, but I don't think she ever replaced Arnaz. (I did see it on Broadway with replacement Sonia and Vernon, Anita Gillette and Tony Roberts).
Donna WAS amazing-----her voice (slightly nasal), her facial expressions and body language fit the part to a T. I could see Lucie Arnaz and maybe even Megan Mullally (sp?), but Brooke Shields just doesn't really seem to fit. (Again, just my opinion). To me Donna was that role and I'll probably just leave that last performance (one or two days before she left) in my memory. (I still have the CD----sniff) I'm still not sure why the box office was so bad ----- I guess some people still need a known Hollywood name in order to get to the theater.
