would IN MY LIFE be better if it was a play?

ok, i know there are a few "would ______ work as a play" threads, and i have always wondered this question. the actual premise of in my life from what ive read actually doesnt sound too bad. if the book got majorly reworked and all the horrible songs were taken out, do you think it would be better? i think so, when i first read the synopsis i thought itd make a better play.

Nothing should be reworked. Not a thing.

The show is entertaining because every single piece of it is horrible. It doesn't make sense, until you see it.

Otherwise it's a boring, overdone love story and an angel trying to make an opera out of it.

IN MY LIFE is a highly entertaining surreal musical, that would be far less effective (and funny) if it lost those musical numbers, especially the ones from Winston. Lose the musical numbers and the show would be amazingly boring to sit through -something it isn't right now.
