For rushes to try later, I would suggest A Little Night Music and Brief Encounter- I've had good luck getting rush tickets as late as half hour this fall.
Also, Addams Family, Billy Elliot, Women on the Verge, and A Free Man of Color only allow you to buy rush tickets 2 hrs before curtain.
As for lottos, you can't really know what's going to be crowded until you go, but as for staggering:
Draws 2 hours before curtain:
Million Dollar Quartet
West Side Story
Wicked
Draws 1.5 hrs before curtain:
American Idiot
Next to Normal
Rock of Ages
Draws 1 hr before curtain:
Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson
Merchant of Venice
So if the showtimes are all the same, you can pick one of each group and scurry off to the next one if you lose. I've done it plenty of times, especially from Wicked or West Side Story down to Next to Normal. Next to Normal, American Idiot, Bloody Bloody, and Merchant are all very close, so they'll be good ones to try together.
In the Heights also has a lotto and you can work it into your system, but the showtimes change and so do the lotto times.
