I love that movie!!! Roger Bart would be great! :) (I'm very happy if you couldn't tell.)
I second Hunter, who once mentioned he'd loved to be considered. Norbert, too, or how about Raul? Michael Cerveris? and Christian Borle for Igor? Jennifer Laura Thompson or Christiane Noll for the Madeline Kahn role..they both remind me of her. Sherie for the Teri Garr role....and the monster...hmm Roger Bart?
*points to icon* He would be the ideal Igor.
..though that might make my head explode - my favorite actor, playing my favorite character, from my favorite movie, by one of my favorite people *insert more incorrect comma usage here*.
It would be great if he did something like he did for Producers - i.e. playing a supporting role and then moving up to the lead. That would be so lovely ^_^
I was at a Gene Wilder interview at the 92nd St. Y last night and someone asked whether he would consider reprising his role with Martin Short as Igor. He said he'd do it but only if they had him doing 6 performances a week, because he couldn't handle 8. Could be fun

Wow...Christian Borle would look just like Igor! Hahaha...but then again, so would Norbert.
God love him, but Gene Wilder can't play Young Frankenstein. Hence, he is no longer young. Martin Short is even pushing the age limits, but I agree that he would be perfect. No Hunter Foster. Love him, but he's wrong for the part. It calls for insane spastic energy, and he just hasn't shown me that (yet). And yes, Sherie Rene would make a splendid Ulga. What about Carole Shelley as Frau Blucher? She's quite funny. I'm confused about Joanna Gleason. Can he do something that intense? I'm also a fan of Jennifer Laura Thompson for EITHER Ulga or the Madeline Kahn role.
And BsoBW, that's what I was meaning about Sara. She'd look odd in a blonde wig. It's IMPERATIVE that Ulga is blonde. Haha.
*does peter boyle impressions* "Puttin on the Ritz!"
Wow..you can't type it how he says it...lol

You're right. Young Frankenstein is a better movie than The Producers, but it's a whole different ball game on the stage.
