Seen the show 4 times... because of my dazzling Debra. But each time the flaws become more and more pronouced.

Bare in mind the the authors did something almost never done. A completely orginal Broadway musical comedy murder mystery. Don't think the authors talent matched their ambitions.

It is a mix success. But not an embarassment.

I have to agree with you, Blonde. I saw the show twice, early in previews and after it opened. While I still loved it the 2nd time, the flaws (excessive exposition, among them) are more apparent.

I'd love to see the show win the big prize, but even if they don't, it still wins a prize: the Yankeefan Award for the most fun I've had all season.

See, that's one of the reasons I want to see it: it's completely original. It's this year's Drowsy Chaperone.

Too bad you didn't like it. It was an entertaining, fluffy, witty musical comedy, everything Legally Blonde, a shows that tried to do the same thing, isn't. I fathom you hated that too, or no?

When you really think about it, for all their authentic "Broadway" sound, Kander and Ebb have never really had much success with pure Musical Comedy.

A lot of Curtains is jokes of for joke's sake. And not very funny ones at that.

K&E seem to thrive on finding humor from the darker edges.

I may not have high standards for musicals, but I adored the show. I thought it had a little too many jokes, but nonetheless some were funny. I loved the score, and I thought the entire cast was fabulous. It's a shame you didn't like it. What shows have you seen that you do like?

"K&E seem to thrive on finding humor from the darker edges."

I don't know if this is what you mean by "darker edges", but the song in CURTAINS "The Woman's Dead" is hilarious! and it has all these morbid jokes in it, which makes it funnier.
Yeah, just wanted to express my love for that song :)
