SHUCKED On Broadway - P/reviews & News Thread  Mar 8 2023, 11:23:23 PM

The Tony's just got a whole lot more competitive.

Hamilton
You're tasked with fixing/overhauling DEVIL WEARS PRADA. How do you do it?  Aug 8 2022, 06:12:29 PM

Agree with the person in the other thread who said this should be styled like American Psycho.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA Musical (Chicago Pre-Broadway) - News & Discussion Thread  Jul 13 2022, 08:07:20 PM

songanddanceman2 said: "The music sounds so bland and generic, another Kinky Boots, Pretty Woman style score. For hin to refer to the music as modern is hilarious. This will be generic as hell.

It's set in fashion in New York, give me You Are What You Wear style from American Psycho, give me cool, chic, dance style music in the vein of the film using cool songs like Vogue.

"

A shame...Vogue would have made for a killer opening number!

I don't know why they did it but it just didn't feel right. Plus they had already done it earlier in the show. Dangerous spawned hits and went 8 times platinum in the U.S. alone. Worldwide it sold over 82 million copies.

Um...82 million??? lol

Too Early Tony Nom Predictions  Dec 30 2021, 07:58:29 PM

The Distinctive Baritone said: "Yeah as much as I likeSix,the only awards it will get nominated for are musical, director, score, orchestrations, and costume design, and it will probably win none of those."

And I'm not even sure about Director.

SIX on Broadway - Reviews  Oct 4 2021, 12:53:08 PM

Timon3 said: "Moulin Rouge snatched the much coveted Tony exactly a week earlier. This is the now the one to beat, is anyone going to steal their crown?

Very strong reviews.
"

Is there a precedent for a show winning Best Musical and not even being nominated for best direction?

CHICKEN & BISCUITS Previews  Oct 3 2021, 08:38:19 PM

I had a GREAT time! But (not sure if someone mentioned already) take note that Telecharge lists "1h40" as a running time but it was a little more than 2 hrs.

These wins look about right!

Why the hate for moulin rouge  May 20 2020, 10:36:36 PM

As a general rule, if a show doesn't have "Hamilton," "Hades," "Six" or "Company" in its title, or has even the slightest tinge of a jukebox, it's screwed.

Which shows will Covid-19 end?  Mar 23 2020, 12:03:11 AM

"I wouldn't sit through it again if they paid me, nor would I call much of it "solid".  It is, however, a major stream of revenue for many and a good introduction / gateway to more sophisticated musicals."

Comments like these make me miss the tourists more than ever.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 2/16/20  Feb 20 2020, 07:10:00 PM

I'd say Tina's life story is more compelling, but man, on paper I would have assumed Cher was a slam-dunk 5-year run.

Funny I was just wondering why/how Tina's doing considerably better than Cher.
