Will Heathers Transfer?  Oct 15 2018, 01:09:55 PM

thegamesiplay said: "Heathers didn’t sell off broadway because its fanbase was built off of a bootleg that at the time was released too late in the run for anyone to go see it. Be More Chill on the other hand benefitted from a bootleg having been discovered before it even considered an off broadway run and became a hit. The fanbase for Heathers is there now that it is a more accessible show and far more popular than it was off-Broadway."

Did this really happen at Spring Awakening  Sep 14 2018, 08:54:11 PM
I feel I already know the answer - but what an absurd lie!

My boyfriend and I were joking around about what would happen if you jumped onstage at a Broadway show and did something like steal a prop, and so I was looking up to see if it had ever happened and came across this site - here - which had this wild story on it:

"In 2008 during a performance of the original production of Spring Awakening Broadway? at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, a drunk middle aged man caused a scene and bad disturbance behavior during half of the first act. The man was running late to the show and had a seat in the show’s onstage audience seating. As the preshow announcement was happening, he blew-past 4 ushers and ran onto the stage to make it to his seat. He noticed he was on the wrong side and began to sit in the stairs right in the middle of the stage seats. He then noticed an empty chair (which was his seat) and began to run to it as the lights were dimming and as Alexandra Socha? (who was playing Wendla) began to sing the opening song MAMA WHO BORE ME. Next, the drunk man took his shoes off with everyone giving him a “WTF” look. He just whispered to the audience “I have blisters” and then fell asleep. During THE B**** OF LIVING, he woke up and everytime there was a “sexual reference” in the song or the following scenes, he began to poke and harass these 16 year old girls sitting next to him. Finally right after TOUCH ME, a security guard came to the rescue to take the drunk guy off. The security guard told him “You need to come with me!”. The drunk guy refused and began to fight with him screaming “You are ruining the show. Stop it you f****** c***sucker! Don’t touch me you motherf*****!” As the fight continues, the show has stopped and everyone (the cast, band, and audience) are all watching watching the drama in horror. Finally the security guard stopped the fight by hanging the drunk guy by his own tie. He escorted him off and the whole audience began to clap. In addition, the company manager brought everyone who was sitting on stage backstage to cry and share their thoughts on the drama. The Drunk man did get arrested. THAT DUDE WAS SURELY TOTALLY F*****!!"

I feel there's no way this actually happened but I can't help bust ask if this is - like - a popular legend or something? Or DID it actually happen?? t's a funny read anyway, in a dark comedy sense lol

AFAIK no one knows why but yes, standing room is sold at the box office when it opens. How much they have? Who knows, me and my boyfriend went on a Tuesday in May and tried to get 3 tickets (we were the only ones in line), and were told there was only 2. My friend we

Eating in the theatre. Thoughts?  Sep 8 2018, 03:32:25 PM
How is it theatergoers fault that they sell food to eat in the theater? The theaters are selling food to eat during the show, so people will buy and eat it. If you tell me "here you can buy this and eat this here" then I am going to assume it's fine - that the crinkling noise isn't as loud as it seems to me, that I'm just bein sensistive to how loud my chewing might be. Eating candy, that is in a wrapper, is allowed and encouraged in theater's, it's not selfish or dumb to do it. Its prevelance i

I don't see any reason to believe this stage door will be crazier than DEH&#3

How can I convice my parents to let me go see a Broadway show by myself.  Aug 22 2018, 11:28:06 AM
I agree with the other posters here, your parents care about you and bad things happen to even the most independent and smart kids, because kids are targets, unfortunately. But there are definitely ways to protect yourself that you can discuss with your parents, if you do think they can be swayed:

You can share your location using a Google account through the Google Maps app on your phone. This way your parents can always be aware of where you are.

You can have regular check in

Be More Chill Off-Broadway  Jul 22 2018, 04:25:56 PM
My theory is that the first week will be bad in terms of just a really rowdy audience and general disregard for standard NYC theatre etiquette and then the "fandom" will get dragged to hell and back for it and shamed into calming down haha.

I got my tickets for early September, super looking forward to it although I hope they have fixed the book. Really not impressed with how much they're using the Jeremy/Michael shipping in their marketing if they're just going to keep the same ending

Not sure if I should enter the lottery if it is for standing room.

The Over/Under on how long the new shows this season will last  May 23 2018, 11:16:47 AM

My reason: Despite it being sold out through March 2019, there is a wave of "woke" teens who are slowly growing against it. I was actually just in a chat with 8 others who enjoy musicals aged 14-20 and they all said this musical is glorifying suicide and has many homophobic or generally dislikable statements ("School shooter chic&q

Dear Evan Hansen - Cancellation Line/Lottery/Ticketing Questions  May 8 2018, 10:14:25 PM
Oh! I'll give a few reports: on a Wednesday last month my friend's boyfriend went at 9AM and was the first person there and more people began to line up at 9:20. He got 2 standing room tickets, I don't know what else happened.

Thursday May 3rd me and a friend lined up at 8AM and no one else ever arrived, we tried to get three standing room tickets (one for another friend), and we were told they only had two.

This past Saturday, the 5th, my friend went (I don't know when), and w

If they were talking about the Dear Evan Hansen stage door then they would be correct, but every other stage door I have been to hasnt had that rule (with the exception of some actors- Ingrid Michaelson at The Great Comet didn't take pictures). It will almost always

The Lucky Ones (PREVIEWS)  Mar 22 2018, 09:03:07 PM

Saw this last night, an incredible experience and an absolutely engaging show. The space it's in is so perfect. As Klubby said it's hard to categorize or describe... It's such a genuine and intense story, the musical numbers and the narration of it and the scenework are all so well put together into just this thing ive just. Never experienced before. As an autobiographical story there are some parts that seemed rushed for the narrative or points that didn't seem to fit in perf

DEH worth it?  Mar 21 2018, 01:48:57 AM
I'd echo that the "worth" is really up to your discretion. I paid $270 max to see the show (with MLB as Evan, horrible stubhub ticket) and then saw it three more times (from $135-213, Ben twice and Taylor once), as a big fan of the show and score I have found it worth it every time and will likely go again, even at the $135+ range. But this is just me, and it really depends on how interested you are in the show.
A Word About Rachel Bay Jones  Mar 18 2018, 02:55:23 PM
I missed out on RBJ the first time I saw Dear Evan Hansen, and so the second time I saw it, when she was in, it was like a revelation. I feel blessed to of seen her incredible performance two more times since, and I think she will be the hardest to replace in the cast. Her energy in the role is incredible and she brings so much to it. I am in shock any time anyone says she robbed the Tony last year from any of the other nominees.

Best Way to get Spongebob Tickets?  Mar 14 2018, 01:41:43 PM
Me and two of my siblings want to get tickets to Spongebob either for tonight or tomorrow night, should they be at the TKTS booth and is that the best way to get them for cheap? Or would the box office have rush that we could just go to? I want to eat orchestra seats if we can get them for under $100 each.

Thanks for any advice/suggestions you guys migh have!
