The Tony Awards have lost the little credibility they had.  Apr 29 2024, 11:00:23 PM

djoko84 said: "They lost all credibility when they decide to have the Phonys with the second-rate shows from the COVID year. Moulin Rouge "won" 10 Phonys that year including one where there was only one nominee. That's losing all credibility because of greed and stupidity."

I don’t totally disagree but calling them The Phonys feels on par with people who call it “Holllyweird” or call everything “Woke”.

Never use BWW “articles” as your main source.

Drama Desk Nominations ‘24  Apr 29 2024, 12:07:52 PM

I thought Cole Escola was snubbed but looks like they’re getting a special award for writing and performance. Well deserved!

What Next For The Majestic?  Apr 29 2024, 11:43:07 AM

Wasn’t Toni Colette rumored to be Mame in Rudin’s production?

Albums that should be made into Musicals  Apr 28 2024, 05:28:47 PM

I second Jordan’s Little Earthquakes. Boys for Pele would also work, too.

Riedel podcast covering SUNSET BOULEVARD with interviews including AWL, Close, LuPone, Sondheim  Apr 28 2024, 05:00:58 PM

I think your views on LuPone are exactly why this firing hurt her so bad. It damaged her reputation and is one of the reasons she has reputation for being difficult to work with. Also, nobody, regardless of their status, should have to find out they’re fired from a gossip column. If ALW should have had a conversation with her. He took the cowardly way out.

I doubt it. Maybe a temporary ban?

Everything I’ve said has not been a violation of site rules. But it’s all being deleted. Cute.
Waitress Casting Rumour  Dec 10 2018, 02:16:44 PM
This sounds like fake news to me. I doubt Stone would want to replace again. Especially after winning the Oscar.
Best Musical Soundtracks ?  Dec 9 2018, 04:33:35 PM
When I was 16 I listened to all of these in one day. They changed my life.

Company

Follies

A Little Night MusIc

Pacific Overtures

Sweeney Todd

First Cast Album  Dec 9 2018, 02:02:15 PM
This thread is going to make me feel old.

I think mine was Camelot or Bye Bye Birdie.

My apologies Musicals3. I thought you were the avid, aggressive Aiken fan from the other thread. My bad. Sorry again.

Cast Albums Grammy 2019?  Dec 7 2018, 11:25:37 AM
Jesus Christ Superstar is going to win.
Legally Blonde: The Musical  Dec 6 2018, 04:18:27 PM

I think the musical is one of the best musical comedies of the last 20 years. Better than the movie? No. But far better than most recent screen to stage adaptations.

Annaleigh Ashford to play Judy Holliday in new biopic  Dec 5 2018, 05:57:35 PM

JSquared2 said: "NOWaWarning said: "Can we just get a Bells are Ringing revival?"

I think the horrible Faith Prince revival and the lackluster Encores staging with Kelli O'Hara have shown that the show is pretty much unworkable in it's original form.
"

Both actresses were woefully miscast. The show works great with the right leading lady in the role.

The musical or the play?
Kanye West at The Cher Show  Dec 4 2018, 04:12:27 PM
And Kim had an “accidental” nip slip. These two are class acts.

Well that’s something I guess. But it’s laughable compare Kanye and Kim to Sonny and Cher.

Jarrod Spector Calls Out Kanye West

This got buried in the reviews thread, so thought I’d start a post on it.

Kudos to Jarrod Spector for calling him out on this. Why even attend the show if you’re going to be on your phone the entire time? This guy is just unbelievable.
