The cookies were decent.

What turns me off is the nasty owner. On SEVERAL occasions he has been down right rude to people in the store. Unless you are a bway celebrity, he could care less. He's all about marketing the shop and getting celebs to tweet about him.

Book of Mormon Chicago cast?  Nov 2 2012, 09:19:40 PM
Rehearsals began yesterday. The reason for no press release was that they only got their Price about 2 weeks ago (even though he's coming from the bway cast) and their Cunningham found out 3 days ago (and is potentially a name people may recognize, or at least a face you might recognize from a recent movie)!

Cast has been asked not to post anything about rehearsals or who is in the show. Press releases should be out any day now.

Billy Elliot Tour  May 7 2012, 04:51:48 PM
It's most definitely an Equity tour. They tiered down from a full production contract to a SETA (Short Engagement Touring Agreement) Contract, which allows for Equity split-weeks. Mamma Mia is still equity and is having one nighters.

The tour was taken over by Networks last fall, which is largely a Non-Equity producer. But they are also known for getting Equity tours that are looking to save money (i.e. Mamma Mia, South Pacific 1st National, Mary Poppins, etc).

And as far as

Big Fish- The Musical  Dec 30 2011, 03:04:31 AM
Has anyone heard any demos or saw the reading in November? I am really curious about the music for this!
The New Billy Elliot Love Thread  Aug 16 2011, 05:33:21 PM
Heard it was sold to networks, since they have experience in how to make budget cuts in a show. They are reducing the number of trucks and cutting salaries. But it will keep the current schedule on the site. The tiered tour will just take over the remaining dates for the next year.

What was wrong with The Color Purple?  Aug 7 2011, 07:00:26 PM
The Color Purple is Celie's story. In the musical, Celie tends to fade while still in plain view. Even with performers as charismatic as LaChanze or Fantasia, there was no dressing up the fact that the role isn't equivalent to what Celie's position in the story should be. I mean, she doesn't even get a solo until ten minutes before the curtain falls.

But isn't that part of the point? Celie comes into her own and it isn't until she is finally comfortable in herself and completely

LaBute's FAT PIG Loses Investor; Delays to 2011-12  Mar 22 2011, 12:18:30 PM
I think this is just a code for "we couldn't find enough investors in time". I know for a fact that they were still trying to raise money as short as two weeks ago.

And let's be honest, saying "we don't have the money" never sounds quite as good as "we lot an investor".

Disney's Tangled on Broadway?  Mar 22 2011, 11:16:04 AM
@ace33 whoever created it was Brothers Grimm and their fairytale of Rapunzel is public domain, so there are no royalties to be paid. Much like Shakespeare.
So how do we think AI is working out a deal with Equity to get BJA onstage?  Sep 28 2010, 03:53:19 PM
Yes, if you are a member, in good standing, of any of the 4A's unions (AEA, SAG, AGMA, AGVA and GIAA) for more than a year, you can buy your way into any of the other 4A unions without any kind of contract. You pay the initiation fees and are a member
So how do we think AI is working out a deal with Equity to get BJA onstage?  Sep 28 2010, 03:38:07 PM
All those people listed do in fact have their equity cards and if it was their first job in an Equity theatre, they (or the producers) paid their dues in order to get them to be in the show.

Plenty of people do not have Equity cards and get jobs in Equity productions, therefore having to get their Equity card. It's as simple as that.

They only time concessions are made is when an actor from another country comes. Equity had made exchange deals with British Equity and Canadian

HAIR Tour Cast is Starting to Come Together!  Sep 25 2010, 07:25:19 PM
rehearsals start monday, so I'd expect an official announcement sometime next week .
Deloris in Sister Act?  Aug 26 2010, 11:25:40 AM
It's called a publicity stunt!

Remember when they did this for Spiderman?! Were Jen Damiano or Reeve Carney found through this audition? No!

Remember when they did this for Shrek? Were Brian D'Arcy James or Chester Gregory/Daniel Breaker found through this?

Could a job result out of this? Yes! Patina is coming, but they obviously need an understudy or standby. And if the show is successful, they will need replacements. Telsey also casts plenty of other shows that some

Tony Winner Faith Prince to Star in Billy Elliot's Second National Tour; Casting Complete  Aug 26 2010, 11:16:08 AM
The Chicago production is technically the 1st National tour. It sat down in Chicago for an extended amount of time. The majority of the cast will continue to Toronto, as TO is considered the 2nd city on the 1st National tour. It will sit down there for several months before moving onto San Fran. The cast with Faith Prince is the 2nd national tour and will go to "smaller" cities and play anywhere from 2-6 weeks in a city.

In regards to smaller scale, the Chicago/1st National is now the

Cast Announced for SHREK Tour; Starts 7/13 in Chicago  May 14 2010, 02:55:17 PM
Rumor is Todd Buonopane is Farquadd
HAIR is hurting... A LOT!  May 14 2010, 02:48:22 PM
And the reality is, they are planning a tour. The tour will sell really well. And they are smart to do 1-2 week engagements. Get in, sell out and leave.
Rock of Ages US Tour Cast  May 4 2010, 10:43:31 PM
They haven't even had agent appointments for the tour yet. And the majority of these people would never even go on tour, especially, for the $732/week the producers are paying!
