I have choreographed HONK twice and I love it. It is a great piece with a great message, especially for a High School. Between the two recordings, I like the American recording better. The orchestrations are fuller.
The lead roles are Ugly- The Ugly Duckling, Ida- Ugly's Mother and The Cat- The 'Villian' in the piece. He is the one that steals Ugly away and througout the rest of the musical the Cat and Ida are both in a search to get to Ugly first. There are tons of supporting and ch

re: Laura Griffith walks into 'The Light...'

I LOVE Laura! She is one of the greatest human beings and such a brilliant performer. I did WEST SIDE with her and her Maria was amazing...she gave me so much to go off of every night in the final scene. Not only is she amazing on stage but we both share a love for pancakes...even when in Berlin!

Best of luck to her in this run...

Reaction to the Nominations

As for the choreograpy category...very suprised at Cilento's nomination. I thought better choreography was seen in CHITTY or ASU. And, although the choreography was minimal, I though the choreography in SPELLING BEE was funny, witty and well integrated into the story. I appreciate that more than a re-hash job of some of Fosse's greatest work.
