What's the latest rumblings regarding who is being sought for the LES MIS revival? Anybody have any inside information?

A source told me that Craig Schulman has the inside track on Jean Valjean. I also heard that Norm Lewis is Javert. And also ex-Idol star Constantine Maroulis has been talking of doing a Broadway show soon...maybe he'll be Marius

Anyone else think Douglas Sills would make a good Valjean? I was listening to Scarlet Pimpernel the other night, and the thought of him in Les Miz popped into my mind.

I will opt out of any production Constantine Maroulis is a part of.
Mackintosh has not been interested in any stunt casting for this revival thus far. I can't see him taking Constantine seriously.
lovesclassics,
yes, I too would love to see Sills take on Valjean.
Constantine being in it would RUIN the entire show. They don't need any sort of stunt casting...if he's even considered stunt casting...
After seeing Douglas Sills in "Pimpernel" way back when, I was surprised he never took on Enjrolas at some point. He would have been perfect. He's too old for it now though, and he really isn't right for Valjean...
Craig Schulman conjurs up the "sweet merciful christ" feelings in me, personally.

Constantine as Marius...... NO.
Marius needs to do more than pout and "look pretty" (I don't think Constantine is remotely good looking)

I'd like to see J. Mark McVey reprise his role as Valjean. He has the look and the voice. Craig Schulman? I don't know. I don't think time has dealt kindly with Schulman's voice.
I'm sure they want a bigger "name" than this, but Jason Kraake was phenominal as Valjean when I saw him on tour (he's one of the Valjean understudies).
I can't even comment on Constantine. Such a horrible, horrible idea...

I, too, would love to see J. Mark McVey return as Valjean. His voice is awesome and I love his interpretation of the role........
DisBari: I heard back in "the day" that Sills was cast as an Enjolras understudy in the tenth anniversary B'way cast, but turned it down. Not sure if it's true, though.
Have others heard about Norm Lewis as Javert as well? I'd love to see him cast in the role, but this was the first that I'd heard of it.
I actually thought Les mis would be the one show free of American Idol wannabes.....please no Constantine...

Persoannly, I wasn't sold on the Constantine idea either. However, a good name for the role of Marius would be David Ayers. The guy's pretty good. Also, why not Michael Ball as Thenardier?
This the same Craig Schulam that sings in the international segment on the Tenth Anniversary Concert? If so then awful awful awful!
J Mark McVey has a nice album and would be a good choice. As for Michael Ball if he is playing anyone then it would have to be Valjean.
Other threads have said that Norm was cast as well as Gary for Thenardier. Have things changed?
mrkrigas,it is him. I haven't seen him in Valjean except TAC. Man, he is old!
Have others heard about Norm Lewis as Javert as well?
Yes...

I have always thought that with this revival and new casting for the summer in London, that Michael Ball should now do the role of Valjean. But I have to admit him playing Thenardier does seem to warrant at least a thought. What with Burnthorne and then Fosco and now playing Frank 'n Furter in the Rocky Horror Picture Show gala next week, I though why not. He does seem to have a flair for the comedic roles. I think I would prefer him as Valjean, what with his voice and all, but he seems to be making different choices. Or at least is being allowed to explore different roles.
Something tells me Constantine is up to something. He has been on every red carpet in the past few weeks!!

I don't think Constantine is an awful choice. He did have extensive theatre training before Idol. Stunt or no stunt I doubt he would fall on his face.
