Legally Blonde wants it.
As does Pajama Game, I've heard.

It should be LEGALLY BLONDE if it were between the two...
THE PAJAMA GAME would burn and die at the Palace quicker than BOBBIE BOLAND.

Posted: 5/23/06 at 7:52pmSo the Palace will stay dark for almost a year?
#4re: Next Tenant for the Palace?
Posted: 5/23/06 at 7:57pmAt least let the show close before talking about it as if it is no longer there

Oh, give me a break.
It's a legit topic and not as if I'm speaking about this before it posted a closing notice.
The show is closing. We can speculate if we wish.

Posted: 5/23/06 at 8:03pmWhat they'd be smart doing is putting a few concert engagements in the theater that would definately sell out. Didn't Linda Eder and Vanessa Williams do a few shows back in December, or a few Decembers ago? They were successful.

Posted: 5/23/06 at 8:03pmI legally blonde going to be a "big" show stylistically? If it isn't, then I can't see it working at the palace. I assume they'll go glitzy, however, so I don't think it'll be a problem.

Posted: 5/23/06 at 8:04pmI know Mariah Carey still has interest in doing a christmas concert...could work.

Company would play fewer performances than Lestat.
EDIT: According to ACT, it looks as though it will be Company. There's a mistake.

Posted: 5/23/06 at 8:47pmCompany?!?!?!?! Man, it's almost as if the Palace is going to turn into the cursed theatre (instead of the Marquis that is since Drowsy looks to be doing great)

Posted: 5/23/06 at 8:54pmJust because two bad shows flopped at the Palace does not make it cursed. As mentioned in another thread, there were plenty of long runs there. "Aida", before that "Beauty and the Beast" (which moved a scaled down version to another theatre), "La Cage Aux Folles", and "Woman of the Year" and "Applause" all had long healthy runs at the Palace. It's the quality of the last two shows that caused their demise, not a curse.

Posted: 5/23/06 at 8:56pmCompany's new production is small and intimate? I don't think it would be good at all in the palace. Let Legally Blonde go there.
#16re: Next Tenant for the Palace?
Posted: 5/23/06 at 8:58pmCompany should go into the Royale or Plymouth (or whatever they're called these days)

The Jacobs (or Royale) has MARTIN SHORT: FAME BECOMES ME booked and the Schoenfeld (or Plymouth) has A CHORUS LINE booked.
Although, the Jacobs may be vacated in time as Martin Short's show is only a limited engagement.

Martin Short should have gone to The Music Box. It's marquee is so fun and lively, it seems like it'd fit a comedic show like his.
As for the Palace, I can see Legally Blonde going in there. Although wasn't there a rumor of Pirate Queen? If Tale of Two Cities is taking the Hilton (when Hot Feet closes of course) and Legally Blonde takes the palace, I'm not sure where Pirate Queen will go, as I'm sure it needs a rather large theater.

Posted: 5/23/06 at 9:24pmGeez! Talk about setting a show up for failure! Sweeney Todd can't even fill the Eugene anymore! Those two should just flop out and play the same venue- I think it would work well for Company.

LEGALLY BLONDE? COMPANY? These sound too small. I'd vote for TALE OF TWO CITIES or PIRATE QUEEN or LITTLE MERMAID.

What about Zhivago? The run at La Jolla ends the end of June. It's a big production and the edges are aiready well polished
