re: Curtains lyrics question  Mar 22 2007, 02:19:31 PM
A New York Times article from last week indicated that Rupert Holmes wrote the lyrics for the show-within-a-show numbers.
re: What Do You Think of Hank Azaria in Curtains?  Mar 22 2007, 11:21:51 AM
It won't last long enough to consider replacements.
re: Happy Opening Curtains!  Mar 22 2007, 11:16:16 AM
It's an old-fashioned show with obvious gags and cardboard characters. The entire cast tries very hard to give it life and I applaude them for that.

Unfortunately, I found it tedious. It's throughly professional in execution, but it goes absolutely nowhere. Years ago, something like this might have worked, but it's out of place nowadays.

Good luck tonight to all involved.

re: Spring Awakening Reviews  Dec 10 2006, 07:37:46 PM
I pray this show gets excellent reviews across the board.

It deserves them.

(By the way, of course Brantley will take it. He's the Times number one and the show is opening on Broadway. It's HIS job, regardless of what some of us may think of him.)

re: What about Stephen Spinella in SPRING AWAKENING?  Dec 7 2006, 08:16:55 PM
He was terrific.
re: In comes COMPANY....  Nov 29 2006, 04:19:24 PM
What makes anyone think any of the critics would have bothered reading the Esparza piece in last Sunday's Times?

I wish I hadn't. It was meaningless.

Good luck to the show tonight.

Has her diction improved, or is she still screaming unintelligibly?

Shows that left you sobbing, unable to stand, move...  Aug 15 2006, 12:35:00 AM
None, of course. For better or worse, I'm easily able to hold in my emotions during shows, to the point that people next to me probably think I'm not enjoying it. This doesn't mean I'm not moved by certain shows. Let's just say I'm interested in being impressed by what I'm seeing on stage as opposed to carrying on and making a scene--as many in this thread seem to think it is their right to do, however embarrassing the behavior might be.

I'm reminded of when I saw the Anthony Qui

re: Does anyone know anything about the musical of gone with the wind  Jun 4 2006, 10:16:42 AM
I haven't seen the SCARLETT Japanese double-CD for years. I believe it's out of print. I put a link to amazon here. I have the London GONE WITH THE WIND LP as well. Hope it comes out on CD someday. EMI/Angel has the rights. (And will Sony issue the London cast of AMBASSADOR...please.)

re: Woman In White- Amazon  Jun 3 2006, 12:29:45 PM
There is only one recording.

The more expensive one is in a box and includes the libretto booklet. The cheaper one has just the CD's.

re: Broadway shows  Jun 3 2006, 11:35:19 AM
By March 2007, several new shows will have opened up. How about the revival of A Chorus Line?

You seem to have stopped this thread dead, Mr. Roxy.

I can't find anything out about a musical named SMITH.

Care to elaborate?

Okay, I'll rate it...

It's only by Jerome Kern--and was later turned into a film starring Fred Astaire.

re: SPELLING BEE ON TV TONIGHT!  Jun 1 2006, 05:25:54 PM
On a Broadway show board, Spelling Bee means one thing--and one thing only.

And who the hell is anyone to use caps to get our attention? That thread is no more important than any other around here. As a matter of fact, it's less important.
