re: Michele Ragusa to replace Megan Mullally!!!

I've had the pleasure of working with her in a show. She's a very strong talent. Take it from me, she's absolutely FIERCE. Some of you, i feel, are just speaking out of your ass...like most BWW forum posters nowadays...

Besides, it's about time Broadway puts on a fresh face, instead recycling the usual suspects and/or stunt casting....

re: Dreamgirls: Who should have been cast instead of Jamie Foxx?
 Jun 9 2008, 01:21:22 AM
The problem wasn't Jamie Foxx being cast as Curtis.
The problem was the choices he made as an actor, and the changes to the character he made and fought the director on. Like how Jamie thought Curtis shouldn't sing so much....And optioned to speak several lines that were originally written to be sung. He totally ruined "It's all over." Which made me sad, because that's my favorite song in DreamGirls.

And, my opinion, but he totally looked like he was phoning it in the entire movie..

re: In The Heights - Creation Question

That may be it, StuckToTheStage!
I was watching an interview Lin did a while ago, while ITH was off-Broadway....
One of his questions were "How did you get to where you are now with this show?"
And his answer was basically, "Collaborators!"

He then went on to say something about how he wasn't able to see ITH from the outside looking in, because he is Usnavi onstage. "Wearing so many hats at the same time, can drive you insane!" So he said he relied on "Collaborators"

He's credited with "CONCEIVED BY," along with "MUSIC AND LYRICS."

That's all one really needs...right?

I mean, in the end, as long as people all point to you and say "It was all your idea." What else could you really ask for.

Do you think....(south pacific)

Do you think SOUTH PACIFIC might tour?
rent in sf may 19 to 24!

"These stops are generally longer than the non-eq dates. They were staying in places for a day or two."

so, is it safe to say that this tour is switching back to a an all equity cast?

"Shut up" was kind of mean...

I dunno...thats just me.

you know, I'm a fan of Daphne. I like her.
I am aware that she is not everyone's favorite.
And I can see the reasons why...

She must be great at auditioning.
I'm sure she still has to....

That's why she gets cast.
She auditions, and a casting director likes her...the process begins...she's cast. That's it.

re: Drew Sarich Rocks! thread
 Jun 25 2007, 06:19:22 PM
I loved viewing Drew's take on Judas from Jesus Christ Superstar.

One of the best Judas' I've ever seen...He just gets soo deep into the skin of his roles, and his voice is great.

I'd say hes the Jonny Depp of musical theatre for me.

Drew Rocks.
