re: Most Awkward Moment You've Ever Witnessed Onstage?
 Nov 12 2005, 05:03:55 PM
i played miss willie in the curious savage a few months ago, and when mrs savage and i were talking alone for the first time, we were standing in front of the window in the set, which didnt actually have any glass, and when mrs savage moved her head the hat fell out the window, into backstage.
i was freaking out, because later in the scene i was supposed to ask her a question about the hat and we were supposed to have this whole conversation about it, so i ended up skipping half the scene,

when i saw wondeful town, when Raymond Jaramillo McLeod (wreck) was putting on his pants onstage before his song, he accidently tore them right down the seat. everyone cracked up for a few minutes, then he put them on and did the whole song with his underwear hanging out.

regarding the whole "I think they nominate the famous people just so they wont get embarresed?" thing, David Hyde Pierce is definitly more famous than say Christopher Seiber or Michael Mgrath (sorry, sp), and he didn't get nominated for Spamalot.
re: Kelly Clarkson...

i think she'd be great on broadway, especially in RENT.

also, regarding From Justin to Kelly, Anika Noni Rose was in it, and she wasn't so great in it, and look what she got a few years later, so i don't think we can judge Kelly's performance in that, because it's just a terrible movie.

re: What should you do if you know someone's doing an illegal production?

um, sorry if this is totally off topic, but i just sorta don't see what the fact that the school is Jewish has to do with anything. the all girls part makes sense, but Jewish people are perfectly capable of putting out quality theatre, so if maybe people could stop referencing that aspect of the school, that'd be great.

that being said, i agree that maybe high schools shouldn't have to pay royalties, but since they do, any school putting on an illegal production is wrong, because

West Side Story and A Chorus Line would both be really hard talent wise.
It seems like Peter Pan would actually be less difficult than Wicked, tech wise, because as far as I know (which, granted, isnt a lot), all peter pan needs is strings and harnesses to fly. wicked, however seems like it would be a lot harder, even if you dont try to emulate all the biroadway stuff. isnt there like a platform thing that elphaba has to stand on at the end of defying gravity, while shes connected to a h
