Another show ("High" was last week) that got tepid (or worse) reviews out of town and now comes crawling to Broadway. Attractive performers and old-school classy tunes won't be enough to make this one a hit.

Yes, I enjoyed this play very much and loved every one of the actors. The former Shubert regime would have moved this play right away, because it's already sold out off Broadway and has a great shot of being a hit on Broadway as well. It would certainly be helped by Tony noms. But the current Shubert regime apparently doesn't have the same commercial instincts: they'd rather put new, untried stuff into their theaters instead.
