Return of Heathers? Jul 6

I had a fantastic time (after being a fan of the show since the original Off-Broadway production)! There are so many great numbers and the cast is phenomenal. As others have mentioned, McKenzie devours as Heather Chandler. I had to force myself to take my eyes off of her during multiple scenes where she wasn't meant to be the focus. Lorna was fantastic (as expected) and I found her Veronica to be more likeable than in the original production and pro-shot. I w

Report: The Phantom of the Opera May Be Readying an Off-Broadway Return Jun 23

Banal conversation about the financials aside, I think Phantom is going to translate so well as an immersive production. Imagine the moments -- the title song, Prima Donna, the chandelier fall, Masquerade, the finale. It's going to be so exciting to experience up close!

Amber was stellar casting, I don't think anyone could have nailed the role the way she did. She looked stunning and sounded incredible.
Hoping this has some kind of life post-closing -- I feel like a cast recording may not be likely at this point, but I'd love to be able to listen to the music again in full. The Nights in Mombasa EP doesn't quite scratch the itch.

REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES To Close June 29, 2025 Jun 18

I'm looking forward to catching it one more time before it closes -- another in a list of shows I adored that the general public didn't know/care about. I'm grateful to have the cast recording at least!
I think that people who didn't enjoy this show are too critical. It handles some heavy themes beautifully, but the tone overall is so joyous.

It seems like the easiest decision in the world -- such a beautiful and infectious number!
So grateful to have this recording of a beautiful score. Other than the title track, I'm obsessed with Doin' it Anyway, If I Were a Bird, Oye Muchacha, & Daydream. I'm really hoping the Tonys performance gives the show a boost because the cast, crew, and material all deserve it.

Catching the matinee tomorrow so that I can say I've seen all of the Best Musical nominees before the Tonys. Hoping the full cast will be in, but will understand if not -- I can't imagine the stamina required to rehearse, perform a full matinee, get ready to walk the red carpet, and then perform at the Tonys! It's gotta be an exhausting but exciting day for them.

Oscar at the Crown Jun 7

Any thoughts on the new West End production of Oscar at the Crown? I caught a performance of it last week after seeing the original production (at Brooklyn's 3 Dollar Bill) three times. I can understand that it's not for everyone, and many fans of traditional musical theater won't be interested, but I would love to see it find a larger audience.
If I were to compare it to anything else I've seen, it feels like an underground version of Here Lies Love -- the actors perform on moving platforms throughout the space, telling the life story of a notorious public figure through (mostly) loud, fun dance music. That's simplifying both shows quite a bit, but other than that, Oscar is such a unique piece of theater.
Reviews seem to lean mixed positive (here, here, and here from my quick Google search), but I'm hopeful that it will catch on because it's some of the best vocals and choreography I've ever seen.

It is interesting to me that they didn't get a cast recording together early on -- it feels like something they'd have already done if they wanted to. With less-than-stellar reviews and sales, it's

I went in with no prior knowledge of the original album or artists and had such a fantastic time. The energy is infectious, the cast is super talented, and the band is phenomenal! It's definitely one of my favorites of the season.

The energy in the theatre tonight was electric! There was so much love for this cast and crew & they really earned the mid-show standing ovation after the title number.
I did notice some tightening in the book after having seen it during previews. I love everything they’re doing — the cast, the score, the costumes, the lighting, the sets are all beautiful! I’m already looking forward to seeing it again.

DEATH BECOMES HER Reviews Apr 9

Megan & Jennifer are seasoned Broadway veterans & currently in the conversation for Tony noms. I feel sure that these decisions to call out aren't being made lightly or out of laziness. Diminishing the work that goes into performing these roles or comparing them to other actors (who were performing completely different roles) feels snotty to me. It's unfortunate they've needed to be out -- they're both delivering phenomenal perfo

They do this gag 3 times throughout the show (during For the Gaze, the stairs, & the fight), and each instance elicited laughter from the audience when I saw it -- I think it's plenty clear that it's intentional.

So glad Megan was back in this evening! She and Jennifer both have some fantastic moments to shine and the audience was loving both of them tonight. They bring so much to their roles — stellar casting.
Michelle looks incredible (entrance applause every time she appeared) and her singing lives up to the hype. Christopher is hilarious and a good sport about being the butt of many jokes — I think he knows that the audience is there for the women. I enjoyed how Madeline’s

I thought it was a sweet show, and loved the production. I was orch right row K, towards the middle, and definitely missed some of both of their bedrooms, but nothing detrimental to the show. When I go back, I’ll aim for center front mezz — some things happen on an upper level that could be missed if you’re too front and center in the orchestra.
Unfortunately, Darren’s voice was not in great shape. Not sure if he’s ill or maybe just tired, but he was n
