NOTRE DAME DE PARIS in New York Jul 18
2022, 10:52:57 AM
Wow! We went Friday night, this is an absolutely amazing show, go if you can! Daniel Lavoie was the main draw for us, we were worried about how many years it has been but his voice is still strong and all of the singers were amazing, we agreed on loving Angelo Del Vecchio who plays Quasimodo, he has such a deep, thrilling, resonant voice and he uses the gravelly characteristics so well when called for, Hiba Tawaji was a magnificent Esmerelda but the ballet dancers during "Dan

Julie Benko as Fanny - Funny Girl Jul 18

Julie was OK, but I feel the show overall just isn't up to Broadway standards, certainly not worth a trip to NY.
We drove to NY for the weekend, mostly to see Notre-Dame de Paris, which was amazing. I was planning to catch Company, but my wife is a huge Ramin fan and she heard Julie would be on, so we decided to get matinee tickets to Funny Girl. The orchestra had at least one brass instrument out of tune or somebody playing drunk during the overture... just listene

Thoughts on ART tryout Jun 9

With that song, you’re at least leaving the audience with a somber reminder of the conflict that’s going on elsewhere."
That sounds great, since the reviews say "Mama Look Sharp" is the best song in the show!

Thoughts on ART tryout Jun 6

Haha! As the owner of a 50-70 year.old bladder, thank you.
There are reviews at https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Review-Roundup-Broadway-Bound-1776-at-ART-What-Did-the-Critics-Think-20220606 now. Arts Fuse says ...Violin "leaves a sour taste that undercuts what’s to come in the next act." so maybe it would help if they changed where the acts break?
Anyone have a take on whether this is improving as the tryout goes on? Perhaps see it near the end of the Boston run.

It was these people who made me learn very early on that making a career in the arts was such a game of chance, because iftheydidn’t make it, what chance did I have?"
This (and a great big casting couch!) is why I tell my kids not to pursue a career in the arts.

"One of these days I'll write a novel about the kinds of people who are drawn to community theater."
Kurt Vonnegut already wrote "Who Am I This Time?" in his Monkey House anthology.
Henry Fonda and Marlon Brando started out at the Omaha Community Playhouse. Raymond Burr, Ariana Grande, Victor Mature, Charles Bronson, Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman, Sally Struthers, Jamie Farr, John Ritter, Ed Asner, Ruth Buzzi, Nick Nolte, Al Pacino, Martha G

Ramin Karimloo in FUNNY GIRL on Broadway - News & Discussion Thread Mar 29

My wife is a big Ramin fan... we've seen him in four shows, five if you include the virtual one from Japan last year. We've taken a couple trips to the city just to see him... so is this show worth it? We decided to skip Anastasia after buying the cast album, not enough Ramin. I'd be very interested to hear about Julie Benko who is standby Fanny Brice on Sun/matinees, what's her first night, is she better than Beanie, as long as Ramin isn't off as well. &
