I’ll admit, I am super impressed at the turnaround and it’s more than I ever would have predicted but is it enough? And the dead of January is imminent.
Now they’re surviving to stay afloat and I can imagine sharks swarming around the theatre for something in the spring." <

Yeah if it hadn’t been for MHE announcing the true sellouts on Saturday I probably would have been thrilled with such a hold after a holiday.
After all, I’d give it a guess that the difference between the apparent weekend sellouts that MHE has had in recent weeks and the announced ones on Saturday was maybe…20-30 seats?? Those two performances co

Won’t lie…with the announcement of the first two TRUE sellouts on Saturday for Maybe Happy Ending I was hoping for a bit better this week…
HOWEVER I did know that the weekday shows didn’t sell as well as the weekend shows did, a small dip was expected after Thanksgiving AND the midweek shows (especially tonight) seem to be selling better. Hoping the weekend momentum from this past weekend continues into the week and through the holidays.

This is mostly really good news for MHE. Average ticket price is finally over $100 and they broke the $700k mark for the week. But it something of a mixed back because despite being a holiday week, capacity was at 88%. Still, these are much better numbers for MHE and this is the first week that they came close to (or actually managed to) cover their operating co

What makes their operating costs so high for such a small cast? Is it due to the technical elements?"
Yes and the higher rent/operating costs (or so I’ve re

So we’re just gonna keep moving the goal posts on this aren’t we?
I was gonna leave this alone but let’s say this is true…they’d need to get about 91% capacity at $105 a ticket to get there. Would take another big jump but not impossible this week especially if they sell out tonight. Hope the progress cont

Ok fine I’ll concede that MHE definitely lost money this week.
The last thing I’ll say about MHE is this: I’m glad they had their best week financially so far despite the drop in capacity. As expected with the holiday, this week’s weekday shows seem to be selling better than last week which is all that matters. Hoping this show can inch higher and higher through the holidays and then we can see what happens from then. Fingers crossed for the

Pretty sure the college student who does the grosses breakdown on r/broadway DOES account for that. Again, I’m just trying to be positive about MHE posting their best financial week yet even if that’s a low bar. If someone wants to go argue the MHE operating number with the guy on Reddit

All I know is that this show has been discussed to no end on r/broadway as well as other blogsand the operating cost was revised from 680k to 540k last week both on there and elsewhere I saw it mentioned so I took it as gospel. I’ll take a look at where this number comes from so I’m not talking out of my a*s but I saw no pushback to that new number last week."
Unless no one is taking royalties that number is impossible for any musical re: operating weekly costs"
The 540k number is the number listed again this week. If someone wants to ask this guy where that number is coming from go ahead because I’m not gonna create a Reddit account just to do that…haha

I’ll take this as a win for Maybe Happy Ending. Up about 150k and (according to multiple sources with their operating costs) a nearly profitable week. Lots of shows took dips in attendance this week. Not gonna sweat that since about 60% of shows took an attendance hit. Hoping this is the start of a good holiday season for the show!

Just moved a trip from April to January to try and see Maybe Happy Ending before it closes but it seems closing will be announced soon. These numbers even after all the great reviews still indicate a big financial loss. I am so heartbroken. Don’t think I can afford a trip any sooner than first week of January…
I am so confused though, as others have suggested, the capacity number seems odd. MHE seemed to sell out at least three shows this week throu

As has been said for three weeks now, the show was heavily papered for the entire preview run before the first preview performance even began. The weekly grosses have largely been identical every week because of this. The most important grosses for this show will be next week and the week after that.

I think MHE still has a chance. The person who does the grosses analysis on r/Broadway agrees with me that MHE seems to be selling decently well but that they obviously papered heavily when advance tix before first preview weren’t selling at all. Word of mouth still continues to be good and a good review from the NYT could get
