Holy mother of God, those are some monster numbers!!
Question regarding Gatsby: did they open the rear mezz at all or is it still curtained off? Considering how gob-smacking good they're doing, it seems like they would want to open it up and try to rake in even more.

James T. Lane was on almost the whole week (7 of 8 performances) because Iglehart has been out sick. I’m SO happy that he was able to enjoy quite a few sold out houses and fuller audiences. (I went last night and there were only a smattering of open seats).
I think it’s in a weird position. Nobody is necessarily clamoring to take Studio 54 and Roundabout didn’t program for it, so I have a feeling it may have life in it (especially with everything that’s closing next month), but once the Spring comes in, it’ll get knocked out.
I definitely feel like a closing would’ve been announced by now if they were able to somehow subside on the lukewarm grosses. Also, it’s only on sale until May 4th, 2025, so maybe Roundabout would rather keep a tenant that has signs of life than leave it empty for many months.

Can anyone think of a Word-of-Mouth gross swing as dramatic as MHE's in recent memory? (I realize they may or may not be able to sustain it, but I'm speaking in terms of the upswing itself, even if it doesn't last)
Come From Away was making $600k in previews -- double what MHE was pulling in the equivalent timeframe.
Gentleman's Guide seems roughly equivalent, but it took them longer than MHE to see an increase; their turnaround seemed to correlate more with the Tonys than with pure word of mouth. Not to mention there's been inflation since then.
And of course there are shows that build their Word of Mouth BEFORE Broadway like Oh Mary, so they were already pulling strong numbers when they started previews.

Early February
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Christmas was on Wednesday. Desire to consume Christmas-themed content usually dips significantly afterwards. Their seating charts look empty this week.

Fair. I guess I figured with crowds in for New Year's Eve and all. I'm sure you're right.
I am actually stunned by Maybe Happy Ending. I was certain it'd be limping to a closure at this point and instead, I doubt they have any plans to go anywhere. If they can keep it going until June, I think they will do very well at the Tonys. That hurts my heart a bit because I am a much bigger fan of Operation Mincemeat and Dead Outlaw. But, I think the hero story of this great little show's insane turnaround will be hard to ignore.
I'm also stunned by Great Gatsby. I truly can't believe there are people paying $674 per-ticket for that show, but here we are.
I'm so happy to see Suffs and Stereophonic with fantastic weeks as they near the end of their run.
Seems a bit disappointing for Sunse and Cabaret. Both solid moneymaking weeks and, for Cabaret, it's their best week with the new cast, but both are well below their peaks in a week that should be one of the best. Moulin too.

I just looked at Telecharge- the rear mezz is open from tomorrow through the weekend (and well sold)- I’m assuming it was open last week as well.
ETA: The very back of the rear mezz is still closed- I stand corrected.
Elf still made over $2 million. I'd say odds are high that they may return next year if there's a theatre available. The Marquis will be occupied but maybe the Nederlanders will plug this into the Palace if that's vacant.
I'm sure Elf lost steam after Christmas Day. It'll probably be one of the biggest drops this week which will still be good for most shows.
Wicked is truly insane. Insane.
Very happy for Maybe Happy Endings! And that number for The Outsiders is truly astonishing for a theater that size. Back to the Future is also going out on a huge high.

Their attendance was slightly down, but their box office number was actually up. They beat the Marquis house record last week and again this week, but since the story is the crazy numbers for Wicked etc it won't get much notice.
