I've found some bargains on Priceline.com in the past. Also if you're an AAA member or if you're traveling w/someone 50 or over, some hotels offer a bit of a discount.
For quite a few years, I've gotten some pretty good rates at the Comfort Inn Midtown (especially in the summer--but it's pricey in the fall).
One note about big NYC hotel bargains: Read the fine print about their cancellation polices--some are completely nonrefundable.

There?s more than the singing, though, Elice notes.
?We have to have a guy who looks believably Italian, who?s about 5-foot-6, who has no break between his chest voice and his falsetto,? said Elice, who wrote the show with Marshall Brickman. ?[This musical needs] somebody who?s willing to swim for two hours every day so he can breathe and have breath control to deliver this vocal performance.?
Aspiring actors also spend time at what Elice affectionately calls ?Camp Castelluccio? (Castelluccio is Valli?s real last name).
?At this ?Frankie Camp,? we bring in kids who have possibilities. ? I don?t think we could just bring someone in who could just play this part because it?s so demanding,? Elice said. ?You have to train for it, like an athlete for an event.?
Bwarie said Frankie Camp is the same for any guy going in for the role, and it?s scheduled before the final audition. ?Some people assume that it happens after you get the job, [that] you get whisked away to the woods and roast marshmallows with other Italian-looking guys,? he said.
?They give you the singing, acting and dancing technique and sort of the style of the era and of the real man himself.?

I love reading everyone's comments about Bobby's powerful performance on the Tonys in this great show! In late August, I did a JBB interview (http://jerseyboysblog.com/jbb-exclusive-interview-with-j-robert-spencer-3/2975) with Bobby & he was beyond thrilled about the "Next to Normal" opportunity...here's what he said:
JBB: Congratulations on the award! Then, you?re off to Washington DC to star in ?Next to Normal?! It sounds like this is an amazing opportunity for you and it will be a major departure from your role as Nick.
BS: I?m very optimistic about ?Next to Normal.? This piece is completely original?it?s emotional, heartbreaking, uplifting, and chaotic. It?s going to be an amazing piece of theatre?it?s not full of fluff. I think audiences want to be challenged. It is an emotional journey with a tremendous cast with music by Tom Kitt and a book by Brian Yorkey, and it?s directed by Michael Greif, who?s a fantastic director?one of the best.
I play ?Dan,? the husband and father, and it?s exactly the role I NEED to be doing after playing Nick Massi.

You're right about Christian Hoff's solos. Although it's not a solo, I thought his duet w/John Lloyd Young on ?Sunday Kind of Love,? in Act One, right before Mary Delgado is introduced, showed off his vocals, too...
