It'll be a while, but I'm going to New York at the end October and want to see two shows while I'm there. Which of the following would you theatre buffs recommend?

A Catered Affair
Cry-Baby
Glory Days
Top Girls
[Title of Show]
A Tale of Two Cities
Equus
Billy Elliot
A Chorus Line
The Little Mermaid
Curtains
Grease
Gyspy
In the Heights
Passing Strange
Spring Awakening
Sunday in the Park with George
The Homecoming

I personally thought LaChiusa's Wild Party was a disaster. In my opinion though.

Try wednesday matinees. You get there at 8:30 like I did, you'll get tickets. Granted, the seats aren't the greatest, but the show is amazing! Loved it!

I've seen a production done before, and it was done very tastefully. The lighting and blocking made the scene have meaning. I have no doubt that this production will be amazing. It's a great show, it really is.

oh come off it Death Star, it's all in good fun.

re: Bryant Park Show Cancelled !

It does suck that they cancelled it, but Fiction Writer, if you're not here, you have no idea how freakin' hot it is. I'm from Arizona where it's reaching 115-120 and it's doable. I'm here for the summer and the humidity is killer. Performers, audience, whatever, it sucks right now.

re: You know you're a Broadway musical fan when...
 Jul 23 2006, 09:31:36 PM
When a conversation goes something like this....

Me: So what'd you have for lunch today? (Avenue Q)
Friend: The worst pies in New York. (Sweeney Todd)

or when we randomly break out into song.

I will say something, like, uh oh!
And she'll say, "UH OH! I said, fine with me......" (The Color Purple)

Insane.

Sweeney Todd was not written for the screen. It was written for the stage, and Hollywood needs to start thinking of original ideas and stop trying to increase their money market by turning masterpieces into tasteless films......in my opinion.

TKTS and Avenue Q. A question in need of an answer....
 Jul 20 2006, 04:26:05 PM
I know it's been posted a million times, but I was wondering if someone could tell me how easy it is to get Avenue Q tickets at TKTS? I want to go this Saturday night. Also, I know they start selling starting at 3pm. What time should I start waiting in line to actually get tickets? And how much do you think they'll be?

If anyone could answer my questions, I'd be extremely thankful.
Thank you!!!

It depends if he really appreciates theatre. If nothing else, 25th or the wedding singer will be perfect. I'd go with 25th annual because, well, it's just better.

I just saw a preview show of SHOUT! The Mod Musical. It was absolutely wonderful! I say see it now before it gets huge, because it was that good.

What about Popular (the WB tv show). Can't you see it. Two girls (one popular, the other not) joining families. It'd be a cute off-broadway show.

I've tried Rent lotto twice in the last two weeks and lost. There are about 70plus people there on average. It's pretty difficult
