GYPSY-- unfortunately i am basically unschooled in the specifics of classical music, so i can't tell you which parts were used except to say: the pretty parts? :)

How Handel's Messiah fits into the show: a major aspect of the plot is music-- in the first act, we are at a cathedral in which a boy's choir is receiving music training; in the second act Handel himself (yes, Handel is a character in the play), as a benefactor to the Coram Foundling Hospital, has written music which is performed by the Coram choir. In addition to this, music, both instrumental and choral, scores the play (much like on tv or in movies) to highlight or support what's go

SPOILER FILLED & a bit long too I saw the show last night and I thought it was great theatre. The ensemble is amazing-- to a note they are all wonderful. I especially loved Young Alex and Young Thomas-- the women who played these roles made me believe they were young boys. also loved the villains-- they really made me hate them. The choir is beautiful and the pacing and staging (the "drowning" scene is quite well done) are great. It

i would recommend checking out some books for more detailed answers than one can give on a msg board. some suggestions are: Acting as a Business by Brian O'Neil (he also teaches a class that is quite good) Ask an Agent by Margaret Emory Auditioning by Joanna Merlin An Actor Prepares to Work in New York City by Craig Wroe An Actor's Guide: Making it in New York City by Glenn Alterman (also teaches-- I think private monologue coaching) There

it's great that you're doing this-- you have to start somewhere! since it's at ripley-grier, you can check their white board up front or ask someone at the desk what room the ave q audition is in. you will probably not be the first non-equity person there, so someone will have most likely already started a list. if no other non-eqs are there, then just take a piece of paper put Non-Equity list at the top and then your name after #1. Oh I just realized, depending on how early you ge

when they say "typing will occur" they mean that they will either group people by type or eliminate people by type (without seeing them read/sing-- purely based on visual--and perhaps vocal-- type). in nyc, even for non-equity (and non-paying) open calls, people show up early early early. if you're trying to "crash" an equity open call, it's best to be as early as you can possibly stand-- i mean, it is not unheard of for actors to show up at 7am or earlier for a 10am call-- think the

glad to hear you had a good time! i'm definitely going to have to see it w/ the new cast. as for sara at the stage door, she came out the night i saw the show, and she was incredibly nice and gracious. i personally don't think she was a great fit in grey gardens, but i really loved her performance in DRS.

Harispray and DRS may be somewhat easier to win. And you could always get a third ticket from TKTS (tho' you won't all be sitting together).

2006, 12:20:04 PM
From today's NY Daily News: Rocco Dispirito could be moving from the kitchen to Broadway. We hear the celeb chef has been huddling with producers Fran and Barry Weissler about joining the cast of "Chicago." DiSpirito's rep confirms the talks, but says nothing's set. …
