Is Musical Theater a PhD Worthy subject?
 May 18 2009, 12:24:42 AM
I have a question that I'd like to put out on this board. Please don't tear me apart for asking this question. Here goes:

I am a university theater student and am extremely interested in pursuing a PhD in Theater History, Critique, and Theory. I would love to focus on Musical Theater Studies. But is this even done? Is Musical Theater really too "common" to be considered important for in depth study and analysis? Or am I right to think that it is a theatrical form commonly overlook

I loved this show and hope it moves to Broadway. The final performance was wonderful and I was wondering if anyone else here saw it and what your thoughts were - do we think it is good enough for the big leagues???
It has been made into a movie

Ideas for new musicals - based on plays or books
 May 7 2007, 10:05:11 PM
Okay - so I have a school assignment to come up with an idea for a new musical Here are the limitations...
1. Must be based on a book or a play
2. Cannot be based on a t.v. show or movie
3. No Harry Potter
4. Cannot be based on a piece of childrens or teen literature
5. Should avoid making a musical specifically for children.

Guys, I need your help. Any and all comments or ideas are much appreciated!
