Just an FYI - The gift shop next to The Olive Garden in Times Square is going out of business and everything in the store is 75% off. I happened to walk by tonight and picked up 2 windowcards, 5 cast recordings, 2 ceramic tile magnets and a t-shirt for Urban Cowboy (c'mon, it wasn't THAT bad...
for $43.00
Just thought I'd pass it along to anyone else who wants cheap Broadway merchandise.

Posted: 2/20/07 at 9:23pmI was over there on Saturday. All the good stuff is gone, though they have a lot of rare cds.

I got that huge poster of Loretta Swit in MAME.
Beautiful.
It only cost me 29 cents.

Posted: 2/20/07 at 11:15pmI need to get there tomorrow and buy whatever good stuff is left, and then get myself over to the Marquis and buy a DROWSY record (if any happen to be left).

Ha ha! The first thing I thought of when I read the title of this thread was: Ooo...discounts! I hope I can get there tommorrow afternoon. And I hope there will be some decent stuff left.

Posted: 2/20/07 at 11:23pmI'll buy a cast recording of pretty much anything if it's cheap.

Posted: 2/21/07 at 7:58amThis is gonna sound like a dumb question but I really need the closure. This isn't the gift shop near the St. James Theatre, is it?

No, it isn't, Matt.
Also,Footlight Records, is closing all operations. Since closing the retail store they have been doing internet only business. Now that is also on the way out. A very sad situation.

Why not check their web site? www.footlight.com The last time I looked they were selling magazines at 75% off.
Having lived in a collegetown all my life, I just don't buy the "poor college student" excuse. It's my observation that they pretty much have whatever they really want to have. You need to set your priorities. I was raised in a lower-middle class family, started my collection of show recordings as a teenager, kept it up as a "poor" college student, a low-paid member of the US Army and while raising a family of four children. If you think Footlight Records is too expensive, you could always shop at Colony Music

MAME poster for only 29 cents?!
Does anyone know exactly when they're closing? I'm going in 2 weeks... Come on 75% how can I miss that?

Thanks!!
I went there this morning and picked up 7 albums for $5 each!
Ask for them to show you the ones they have down behind the counter. It's a much better selection than what's up on the racks.

I work a block from there and spent my lunch hour walking around. Picked up 5 magnets and a couple of CDs - $24!
Was there anything people wanted me to look for?
If so, respond below and let me know and i can walk over there in a few hours after work or tomorrow at lunch time and if they have it, I could pick it up for you.
There are lots of TShirts of closed shows, posters of old shows, porcelain and regular magnets, older CDs, show pins, matchboxes with theater covers (shaped like the porcelain magnets) and other misc things. They open at 930am.
Let me know!
