re: Laurents to Direct Bway WEST SIDE STORY Revival
 Jul 27 2007, 04:11:20 PM
I agree about Arthur Laurents. When he directs the words he wrote, like he has done with Gypsy, he takes the actors to levels other directors can't take them to. I'd love to see him get a crack at West Side Story.

I won't be seeing this until the fall so I'll be very interested to hear what the people who post here think.

I do agree that the young lady might want to consider diet and excercise. She's a great talent and she should have a long career ahead of her.

The movie is one of my favorites. My mother loved it, and every time I see it I think of her.

Oh dear. Well it's a funny thought but I don't know how well it would work.

Well I'm sorry you feel that way. I certainly didn't mean to upset anyone.

G_Schlozinski2, I'm not sure I understand everything you're saying, but you sure do make me chuckle.

I did it again! I've never been accused of using so much salty language in my life!

No, you silly ****cat. I was just deciding if I'm going to make a cup of soup for lunch or if I want to go outside and get something.

It is indeed too bad. I try not to complain, though. I have a lot more than most.

I haven't got a union. I'm slave labor. (And it really feels that way sometimes, too!)

G_Schlozinski2, you're so silly. :)
what don't you like about the 'a chorus line' movie?
 Jul 18 2007, 11:41:14 AM
I remember seeing the original production in New York as a (semi) young girl. It was one of the most exciting nights of my life. The movie was a such a let down. I couldn't believe some of the changes that were made!
I have such doubts

And I trust everyone here knows it's not "Veronica's Room" but "Rosemary's Baby" that featured the coven and the creepy Upper West Side apartment building (also known as the Dakota)?

I did, SeanMartin, but I could see how it could be unclear. Thanks for making sure that was clarfied!

I've always preferred Veronica to Rosemary. I find the story in the former more gripping than the one in the latter.

Do you prefer the act break before or after Maureen returns as Cissy in disguise?

Veronica's Room is one of my favorite chillers. Shuffle off to Buffalo!

Weird. I guess BroadwayWorld doesn't care for coarse language.

I really do think for some their technique is really that they have no technique. Just like method works for some, or that breathing one or that Viewpoints thing that I still don't get, some just, as the cliche goes, learn their lines and try not to bump into the furniture.
