re: The right to criticize?
 May 23 2005, 07:01:04 PM
There is a difference between:

"to criticize" and "to critique"

"Criticize" carries with it a sense of being negative and finding fault, ONLY.

"Critique" carries a kind of all-around review, including both POSITIVE and negative thoughts.

Anyone can criticize. It's the shallow way out. Those who critique have the wisdom to see the whole picture and not just say, "I hate so-and-so" or the show "Something-on-Broadway" is trash.

4 words.....
WILLING suspension of DISbelief

We all know they can't just have the thing plummeting down at the speed of light, crashing to pieces on the stage, which is what would actually happen, if this were done.

It's not the movies, it's theatre. They have to be safe and have to do this "effect" 8 times a week. Pretty awesome to see, given that.

re: NY Funny/ScArY Stories?

The first time I went to NYC, a friend of mine bought a PHANTOM T-shirt and was wearing it as we walked around Times Square. She was approached by a woman who was "admiring" her shirt and asked her where she got it AS THE WOMAN REACHED OUT WITH BOTH HANDS AND GRABBED HER SHIRT, as if to see it more closely.
My friend later told me, "I was backing up from her as she had a hold on me, as far as that cotton shirt would stretch!!" lol

I found this link and thought IM fans would enjoy it. It's a video tribute to her. Scroll to the bottom of the page to view.

I hope this hasn't been posted. I did attempt several searches but didn't go through the 1000's that popped up.

Enjoy!

EDIT= TURN UP YOUR SPEAKERS!

OK, BG2, I'm asking.

Why do you think pictures of tonight's curtain call of WICKED, which would be a once-in-a-lifetime event, would be a "waste of film"?
