The next Desiree should be Nicole Scherzinger Jun 15

I don't know if it was his conscious goal, but it kept his work alive and even managed to eventually return his flops to relevance (and in the case of Merrily, into an actual hit and bonafide part of the canon). Andrew Lloyd Webber has seemingly come around to this way o

Blind Casting exists to capitulate to actors who complain they aren't able to play a role. It doesn't serve the play, it serves the ego of actors. Write more plays for people of Color. Purp

I've been thinking about this lately, and it's a controversial take, but it feels like the right time to post it (for obvious reasons.) I think Desiree in the next A Little Night Music revival should be Nicole, not Audra.
Nicole has the perfect glamour and sex appeal for the role (a la CZJ) - and it would be easy to understand why two men are fighting over her Desiree.
It would also give Nicole the chance

I thought Erivo was perfect from start to finish, and she needs to be booked for next year immediately.

Encores! 2026 Update? Jun 8

There is also potential for WOMEN ON THE VERGE IF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN. A concept was drawn up for it and presented , but Encores decided to go for WONDERFUL TOWN instead given the time crunch."
That would be great, but it needs to be mostly the original Broadway version, with that iconic overture.

Words can't describe what this entire situation has become. Outside of the woke theater crowd on Twitter, I am seeing elsewhere that a lot of the sentiment is going back towards Patti's side.
I do wish Patti would make a statement, and we can all move on.

Why are people acting like this production has been playing to half-empty houses? It's been consistently clearing well over $1mil weekly. This production will easily last through the summer."
I’ve been confused by that sentiment floating around as well. The production is not struggling.

They performed together several times after Passion, including their Grammy winning Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny. I’m guessing the fallout happened in the mid 2010’s.

Was it before the virtual Sondheim concert in 2020?
It’s pretty sad given their past and the breadth of work they did together.

I knew there had to be a rift. If I’m remembering correctly Patti wasn’t happy Audra, Baranski, and Streep sang TLWL for the virtual 90th birthday concert for Sondheim, while she was the current Joanne in Company.
It’s too bad, as they were quite close for decades.

SUNSET BLVD. Revival May 26

I finally saw this today, and I thought the production, Nicole, and Tom were absolutely sensational. Nicole was scheduled off for a couple of days, and returned today in amazing form. I finally get what the hype is about with this revival.
But one gripe: the audience near me was absolutely horrid. I was in orchestra K101, and a guy in front of me kept FILMING the show for long periods of time throughout act 1. Then a woman two seats over from me would start filming becaus

OLD FRIENDS Reviews Apr 9

I don't really think it's fair to compare her voice to Stritch. Stritch could never have sung Sally Durant. That is a very difficult role to sing, and Bernadette sang all of the original keys and didn't miss any performances. She sounded a heck of a lot better than Imelda Staunton's awful vocals and lowered keys.
