The whole point of the play is ambiguity. You're supposed to watch the play and leave with your own interpretation. And it also depends on how the director wants it to play out. The title itself lends itself to this motif: you're supposed to doubt yourself (and the characters).

Off-Broadway is amazing! They're smaller, more intimate venues and the pieces are more generally "out there". I've seen Altar Boyz and The Marvelous Wonderettes and I saw Saved! when it was playing. I'm really curious to see The Toxic Avenger and Happiness. Sorry this post wasn't more useful.

That's really interesting seeing as how tickets don't go on sale until Tuesday.

I haven't seen Billy Elliot but Next to Normal was phenomenal! You won't regret it! And depending on what your schedule is like, Next to Normal has a general rush: when the box office opens at 10am (12pm on Sundays), $25 tickets, two per person. I suggest getting there early.

I'm 21 now but the first time I ever went to NYC, I was 18 and I went by myself. As long as you're smart about it, NYC can be the safest city in the world. Don't make stupid choices like going into dark, unlit alleys, don't take small side streets, know your way from and to your hostel. Other than that, take advantage of rush, lotto, TKTS for cheap theatre tickets and enjoy your stay!

This is kinda off-topic but I would've loved to see Morgan Weed go on as Natalie when she was understudying in Next to Normal.

Shrek: Lotto vs. Student Rush Apr 6
2009, 09:03:34 PM
So, I've heard that the front row lotto seats suck (ie. you end up only seeing from the waist up and miss most of the stuff happening further back on stage) but I haven't really heard much about the student rush seats. Where are they located? Are there seats specifically set aside for student rush or is it whatever's left? I definitely want to see Shrek so the only decision is if I should lotto or rush. Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, it's the "GrooveLily version" of Sleeping Beauty. I loved Striking 12 (their version of "The Little Match Girl") so I'm really looking forward to this CD! April 21!

I've made some awesome friends in the student rush line! The whole musical theatre and Broadway thing doesn't have a huge fan base and it can be hard to meet other people who are into it but in a student rush line, you just turn around and ask "How long have you been waiting?" or "Is this the first time you're seeing this?" and get the conversation started! :) EDIT: Yes, but that would be $25 vs. $50 which is money that I don't have and didn't work into my trip budget.

I don't live in NYC but I visit frequently and I am extremely grateful to shows that have a lotto or rush system. It's great to be able to see a show at all on a student's budget. What kinda irritates me about the lotto is the odds. I mean, there are people who show up every day for lottos and win, like, once. I absolutely hate it when a person drops there name in for lotto 2 minutes before the draw and then they win. Okay, the law of probability is that it doesn't

Yeah, that would work except because the picture is so big, it ends up looking like this: http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/1368/tile.png. If I do it with a resized pic, it just looks like this again: http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/3687/tryz.png. Thanks for the tip though!

OT: 9 to 5 wallpaper. Help! Mar 17
2009, 03:43:57 PM
So, I'm really loving this (www.9to5themusical.com/images/9to5_group_wallpaper.jpg) 9 to 5 wallpaper. Unfortunately, my desktop screen resolution is 1280 x 800 and when I try to use it in the "Stretch" position, the wallpaper gets skewed and looks like this: http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/3082/stretch.png. If I use it in the "Center" position it's way too big and looks like this:http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/2442/center.png. I tried to just re-size and cut it so that it fits and got this: http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/3687/tryz.png but it cuts off too much of Stephanie to my liking. Does anyone here have mad graphics skills? Can anyone figure out a way to make this image fit onto my desktop without it getting skewed or having to cut anyone off? TIA!! PS: I was thinking of something like this: http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/5921/newskd.png but don't know how to extend the background without making it look stupid.
