After Tom Kitt tweeted that there was a next to normal movie in the works, I started thinking about casting and how well it would translate to the screen.

While I think it would make as good a movie musical as any, I don't think casting non-broadway would work for me.

Chicago
General Rush: $31.50 - tickets available at the box office only, when the box office opens. Limit 2 per customer. Not available for Saturday evenings. Subject to availability.

Standing Room: $26.50 - available at the box office, day of performance, only when the performance is sold out.

Next to Normal is a must see. I wouldn't say depressing as such but no, it's not a feel-good musical. It is incredible though and I'd strongly advise you to consider it!

As others have said, the voice changes over the years and I believe that time has changed Alice as well as a personal decision to exercise the different sounds that she has.

Alice sounds completely different in Next to Normal than in Side Show. And Outtasite. And Rocky. And Tommy. And almost all of the songs from Everything's Fine have a different sound to them. Some people say Alice Ripley has a very distinct voice but I disagree. I find, listening to her more and more, that she

Wicked's okay but it won't be appearing on the Tony's this year. Obviously I don't know for sure but I'd say it's a no.
