kinda bummed no Tom, but oh well.
i can finally say I saw a Joe understudy in “sunset” on Broadway. I saw multiple Norma, Betty, Max and Artie understudies in the original and a Betty understudy in the revival … never a Gillis u/s

i have
one time reinking was replaced mid act one with Nancy Hess after “Roxie”. Show didn’t have to stop .
another time ute was replaced mid act one with Nancy again. The show stopped mid act one.
I’ve seen a few shows where the ensemble changed mid show - one time the chick playing June became also kitty midshow

it was no jarring.
i saw Mel as Mimi maybe 5xs. I loved the key change, the lighting kinda changed a bit, kinda made it all seem darker. I also loved Mel N’s black “out tonight” black pants instead of the blue and her half accent.

I always consider Elaine Paige as the first to have sung a “sunset” song
Ria as the first to play Norma and Patti the first to do it in a commercial production.
Why would they release Sarah singing the main songs or have her sing them on tv? Why give it away for free?

the walnut does great productions? Ha. At times yes, but mostly eh.
