I read the (very detailed) description on Reddit. As a lifelong “phan” I think it sounds amazing.

Yes - kind of odd that Jeremy Stolle is NOT one of the Phantoms after doing those publicity stunts (and playing the role countless times). Former touring Phantom Cooper Grodin is also just in the ensemble - maybe understudying? Also, I hope they aren’t having the older Phantoms paired with Anna Zavelson who I don’t think is even old enough to drink…

The authors’ Instagram post makes me feel bad for them, but it is still a bit “cringe.” They clearly want to have their cake and eat it too – to have made it to Broadway and won major awards partly because of the show’s Asian representation, but now they want to be able to live off of the royalties for the rest of their lives, which will be a lot harder if all regional and educational productions are limited to Asian performers - who still

Yeah, there wasxa HUGE social media backlash when Katerina McCrimmon was cast in the tour. I really thought she was going to drop out. But she stayed with it, and once the tour opened and it was clear that she was fantastic in the role, everyone just kind of moved on. I guess the same thing will happen here.<

Hey Sutton: chill. I admitted I was wrong about the person who was quoted in the Playbill article. I am happy to be proved wrong. Being right all of the time would be quite boring, I imagine.
Additionally, I was not telling Wayman to chill about the MHE casting issue, I was telling him to chill towards me about misattributing the Jose Llana quote. Wayman has every right to be pissed about Andrew Barth Feldman taking on a role that really should have gone to an Asian man. So your venom

Get your facts straight. The actor who said he is too old to play Oliver wasn't Conrad Ricamora; it was Jose Llana. You have

If I'm suspending my disbelief to watch singing robots, there's no reason those robots have to be in their 20s. Isn't the whole point that Claire is breaking? I could see that working just as well with someone in their late 30s, early 40s, whatever age honestly. If the helperbots

Well, miserable out of work actors who like to virtue signal and protest on social media make up a pretty big demographic of the theatre industry, so that’s a lot of angry people to deal with…

This just in: Feldman is out, and Okieriete Onaodowan will be taking in the role of Oliver instead.
Just kidding…but seriously, if I were Feldman I would absolutely drop out. It’s not worth the hate.

My take is that the creators and producers want to open the show up to non-white casting so that there can be more regional and school productions in the future. They don’t want to lose money on residuals by making the show harder to cast outside of major cities. If they set the “white actors in these roles is okay!” precedent while the show is on Broadway then it sends a message for the future that their show is not hard to cast and you should absolutely do it at your

The first thing I noticed in that interview was that his speaking voice sounded very, very gravelly, like a heavy smoker sounds. He’s always had a bit of roughness to his sound, but not as much as that. If he sings like that now too, I can’t imagine that being very pleasant to listen to.

Midnight In The Garden of Good and Evil - Broadway? Jul 23

The reviews in Chicago were mixed, leaning negative. From what I remember, the consensus was that by putting so much focus on the supporting role of Lady Chablis (G. Harrison Ghee), the main storyline of Jim Williams became secondary and the whole show was too much of a hodgepodge. I think they were trying to capitalize on our newfound celebratory attitude towards transness (as well as Ghee’s recent Tony win), and ended up telling too many stories at once. I have actually been slowly ma

Watching the whole clip where he also reveals his nonsensical “backstory” for his version of the Emcee as an American fleeing the Jim Crow South of the 1930s leads me to believe that he really has no actual “take” on the character - at least not one that is based on the text or the much documented history of how Hal Prince came up with that character and why. As a result, he is unable to answer the interviewers’ questions with any clarity or depth, and his statem

Jennifer Jason Leigh on Broadway? Jul 15

I was only in high school, but I saw her in both Cabaret and Proof. From what I remember she was fine in both, although she had trouble projecting her voice in Proof and it was a bit too much of a “film” performance - from the back of the orchestra it felt a little subdued.

Just jumping on here to ask if anyone else is bothered by the fact that the Beast’s makeup basically consists of a nose and horns and little else…Is he getting the Gerard Butler POTO treatment? Like, “What if instead of scary and gross we make him HOT?”

A few years ago, Anthony Ramos announced he was playing Mozart in a Broadway revival of Amadeus, but it never materialized. I imagine that part of the reason is that it is not cheap to mount. Salieri is also a mammoth role (the film cut/trimmed some of his very long speeches), and in Broadway's modern economy, would not only requ
