What's the deal with Amadeus suddenly being everywhere next season? Classic without politics?

That's probably true! We're getting two in the Chicagoland area from major companies and now this one... which admittedly is only three! I can't recall large equity theaters running productions but I'm sure it happens all the time. As you said, it is a great play! Great opportunities for actors and staging. I'm excited.

A few years ago, Anthony Ramos announced he was playing Mozart in a Broadway revival of Amadeus, but it never materialized. I imagine that part of the reason is that it is not cheap to mount. Salieri is also a mammoth role (the film cut/trimmed some of his very long speeches), and in Broadway's modern economy, would not only require a big film star to sell tickets, but one with a good deal of stage experience (ideally in the classics).

As for Brigadoon...I am very fond of the show, but I don't get why people keep trying to resurrect it with rewrites. Maybe it needs to actually disappear for a hundred years before anyone tries again.

SCHMIGADOON! almost certainly falls under Parody. I'm pretty sure the L&L estate had nothing to do with it.

Ramos always seemed like horrible casting to me for this.

Loved the City Center version of Brigadoon back in 2017. Christopher Wheeldon’s choreography was stunning.
