Delighted to see this confirmed. The next question is -
Do we get a parallel closing announcement soon or do they wait to launch ticket sales until later this year ?
Robert Ahrens has joined the producing team.
Curious to see if this will be a fully-staged production or just another concert staging.
Also, I can’t say I’m a fan of the new logo.

I'm not that familiar with Chess outside of the big songs; has the Danny Strong book been performed before? Is it good?

How exciting!!!
Just to go over the Shubert theater options for this...
Shubert venues that are currently available for the fall: Barrymore; Booth
Shubert venues that are currently occupied but could possibly become vacant in time for a fall show: Broadhurst (Boop!); Imperial (Smash); James Earl Jones (Real Women Have Curves); Longacre (Dead Outlaw); Majestic (Gypsy); Shubert (Hell's Kitchen)
Venues that are either confirmed to be occupied for the fall or less likely to open up: Ambassador (Chicago); Belasco (Maybe Happy Ending); Broadway (The Great Gatsby); Golden (Operation Mincemeat); Jacobs (The Outsiders); Lyceum (Oh, Mary!); Music Box (Art); Schoenfeld (Buena Vista Social Club); Winter Garden (Mamma Mia!)
If they didn't want to announce the venue with this press release, then I'm inclined to believe it's one of the theaters from that second category...
This apparently has the Broadhurst, though a certain perspiring seer says Imperial.

The Danny Strong book debuted with the 2018 Kennedy Center concert staging and subsequently used for the 2022 concert that played the Broadhurst.
Hopefully they figured out the book. The cast looks great for this score.
Just secure the wigs to be safe.

What’s the timeline for the Imperial renovations? I suspect it would have to go offline after whatever show replaces Smash.
“The Chess that f*cks.”
Actually though, that’s a fun announcement. We’re eating good today with this and Ragtime dropping A+ ads. All three of them look hot as hell and it makes me want to see Chess for once instead of just listening to the greatest hits.
Broadways best kept secret
Just put “Someone Else’s Story” back in, I think it was removed from one of the rewritten books.
Nicholas Christopher was outstanding in Sweeney Todd

That's a great video for the announcement. Obviously they got sick of waiting for the other show to close to announce with what theatre they will be in.
Lea has two concerts in California in a couple of days so will be interesting to see if she talks about it then.
That promo, makes me want to book tickets.

Someone Else's Story is in this version of the show, but for Svetlana not Florence , and I believe ( but could be wrong so happy to be corrected) the only time Florence has sung it is the original Broadway production. Ever since then it's been given to Svetlana, as in the 2008 London concert and now this production.
Here's a breakdown of the 2018 concert on which the incoming Broadway version is based.

Going to the Broadhurst; it’s a done deal.

Video has vibes reminiscent of the current Sunset production. Just needed lots of smoke.

Carolee Carmello, as Florence, sang Someone Else's Story in the 1990 touring company. And Judy McLane, as Florence, sang Someone Else's Story in the 1992 Papermill Playhouse production.
I wish the song would go back to Florence, where it belongs!

Thanks for the correction. Yes the song is clearly crafted for Florence and doesn't fit Svetlana's story but i guess they want to give Svetlana a solo but at least change the words a bit to fit her story if they insist on giving it to her.
I think I am most pleased that Nicholas Christopher finally gets to open a show on Broadway in a leading role. If anyone deserves it and has paid their dues it is he.
Get me that cast album yesterday.
And put the original Broadway cast album on AppleMusic while you’re at it!

I guess this means that odd I Love My Wife revival is not happening?
