I thought it would be appropriate to make a little appreciation post for GROUNDHOG DAY on Groundhog Day itself. What a show! Why it received a bad wrap, I'll never understand. GROUNDHOG DAY didn't try to be more than it was, and it had no pretensions of what it was not - but what it was was meaningful (to me and many others).
It was my favorite show of last season. I love what Tim Minchin was able to do and say with this score - not t

FUGITIVE SONGS - Miller and Tysen's song cycle that preceded TUCK EVERLASTING. Absolutely gorgeous score!! Features 19 songs documenting a group of runaways' trek across America. The studio cast album features the likes of Gavin Creel, Karen Olivo, Barrett Wilbert Weed, Matt
Next Musical based on a movie?
I've always wanted to see The Jazz Singer with Al Jolson adapted for the stage - although, some of its more outdated moments are problematic (namely, Jolson's performance in blackface).
Or better yet, Metropolis (coincidentally the same year, haha). Such a strong story. I think there's an immeasurable amount of potential there. My imagination goes crazy just thinking about it.
Favorite Overture(s)?
The Man of La Mancha OBCR overture absolutely floored me the first time I heard it. I literally had to stop for a second and take it in. Hoooooly crap.
The Thoroughly Modern Millie overture comes in second for me. Such a great, upbeat, and oh-so-roaring-20's intro.
Who's the Most Famous Person on this Board?
I understand Adam Pascal lurks (or used to, at least).
The Definitive Cast Album Thread
