Tom Hooper directing 'Les Miserables' film

Jun 17, 2011 — 3:51:07 AM

I haven't posted here on BWW for a few years, but I feel so strongly about one casting choice I had to chime in: Michael Keaton as Thenardier! Ever since I saw Much Ado, that's been my personal dream film casting. As for the rest, Hugh Jackman is perfect...for Javert, although I really can't think of any better/more likely Valjeans. And I'm holding out hope for a Colm cameo as the bishop!

re: (St. Louis) Muny announces most of ‘09 season

Four of those shows were done exactly five years ago. Then again, that's kind of what they do - recycle the same four or five shows every four or five years. Damn you, Paul Blake! And NGD, with very few exceptions, The Muny is local. I guess I can - once again - hope against hope that the seventh show is Ragtime. *sigh*

re: [tos] tour?

Sep 16, 2008 — 11:41:29 PM

Look at it this way - if they did tour, they wouldn't even need a bus and a truck. They'd just need a fair-sized mini-van! Or they could cram their lives in a U-Haul... That said, I really doubt it. (But I certainly wouldn't mind seeing it do so!)

re: Signature Theatre (Virginia) to mount Les Miserables

Sep 14, 2008 — 2:05:56 AM

Not gonna lie, I'm supremely jealous of the state of VA right now. I've always said that if it was ever given a chance, Les Miz would work brilliantly in an intimate space. That said, you know that if it works and is a sucess, they'll mount it at Cirlce in the Square (or some other small broadway house), so they can make Les Miz money without spending Les Miz money.

re: THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD CD Question

^ Very true - I was looking for a copy for about four and a half years (after narrowly losing out on an eBay auction), then a few months ago, I found a copy at my campus' library!

I really hope that girl gets to play Dot in about 15-20 years. The best one I ever saw on YouTube was the combo of Avenue Q and Fiddler on the Roof - Avenue Jew! (or was that something else?)

re: John Lloyd Young & John Gallagher Jr. (Cubby's former clients)

Am I the only one who's been expecting an Avenue Q mention at somepoint? While all of the Tony-winning cameos so far have been great, other than Julie White, weren't they all favorites in their categories? (Not that I'm doubting Cubby's influence, mind you.) Best line: "You got all that from a song? I thought it was about pirates or something!"
