re: Seeing Shows Multiple Times
 Aug 3 2007, 07:50:22 PM
And at the risk of fanning the flames I'll just admit I saw Scarlet Pimpernel 1.0, 3.0 and 4.0, (not what I would consider an unhealthy amount)(and yes, I did see other shows too - my credit card companies love me - I'm quite well-rounded in my theatre viewings).

And you know what? Not one of those evenings of Pimpernel were identical. Whaddya know! Live theatre... (and Douglas Sills!)... Gotta love it!

To each his own, with love!

Oh, I'm so glad I'm not the only teary one! Craig, thank you! You have made the days of so many people around me a much more pleasant one, to be certain!

The extra footage...xoxoxo? And if there is a (name your favorite diety) in (ditto), could these videos exist on BWW into perpetuity to allow us addicts just a tiny diversion from the mess known as life?

Well Craig, in my world, you're as close to the golden goose as I can imagine. Keep the videos coming, and know there's a special place in my heart (if not in heaven) for people like you!

re: Which closing show would you see on July 29?

In a heartbeat, for one last time, my beloved Beast.

The fact that it would be a chance to see Donny Osmond live as Gaston would be a hoot, too.

I have to agree, all of the shows hold a tremendous amount of interest for me. I'd love to see LuPone as Mama Rose. What I've seen/heard of Grey Gardens is fascinating, and 110 is just classic - add Audra McDonald, and wow!

But to be real, I'd see anything I could get a ticket for, if only I could get to New York again! (I'm

Oh! Yes! "City of Angels" is chock full of totally wonderful, overlooked songs - nobody I ever speak to seems to know the show except my close buddies, but the, maybe I need to widen that circle

Some (!) of my other nominees here... "Disneyland" /Smile; "Where's the Girl"/Scarlet Pimpernel; "A Change in Me"/Beauty & the Beast; "I'll Forget You"/Scarlet Pimpernel; and from Barnum, "Colors of my Life" and "I Like Your Style" (which was the first

Ah! STARLIGHT EXPRESS! One of those ridiculously fabulous, fun to sing along with, guilty pleasures! I saw it twice on Broadway, loved the set, the designs, even the music, but found the storyline maddening! Found it much more satisfying from a storytelling standpoint by the time it got (gasp!) to Vegas, but by then, the incredible "bowl" set and the computerized crossover bridge were gone. Thankfully, the gloriously singable songs were intact (even improved).

OK, and I can see that

re: Unexpected Performances...

At the Los Angeles STAGE benefit a few years back, Malcom Gets did a tremendous, scathing "Tradition/To Life". In the same show, the always wondeful Tyne Daly performed "If I Were a Rich Man." Oiy! The irony!

Unexpected in a roaringly funny way - during a production of "Anything Goes" at Lincoln Center, Howard McGillin didn't quite clear the "banquet table" as he leapt onstage and knocked a great deal of the tabletop knick-knacks all over the set and into the pit. He and Patti Lupon
