of course that is what i thought!! that is really the poignant part of the play. the mom left so the family can be somewhat normal

the birthday cake that was delivered to the daughter at the end of the musical had what significance? my friend and i had a different interpretation. wasnt it the daughters birthday and the dad finally did something normal for her? or that the dad was going a little nuts and had the cake for the dead son what was it?
