Re: Sorry Betsy Wolfe, Worst Audrey Ever

Sep 1, 2026 — 11:14:09 AM

Yes, Jake's Audrey was Ellen Greene. I thought Betsy was quite good when I went during her first week, it was certainly a more subdued take but it worked for me. Nikki M. James was similarly sad, often at the expense of humor but it was heartbreaking to me. I think the production is pretty pitch perfect from start to finish and have revisited to see a number of the casts over the years. I think Ethan is exceptional.

Zane worked almost exclusively in regional theatre until he booked Fire Island at which point he pivoted to TV/film. But he has credits from Serenbe, Maltz Jupiter, North Shore, the Jack O'Brien Sound of Music tour, and others. Plus a BFA from Elon. If you really want to get specific, he actually does have more theatre credits than Luke Evans.

Dreamboy3 said: "Do we know yet who is coming over besides Rachel? Her voice is so different than Patti’s, butI am very much enjoying it. The actor playing Che has a pleasant voice, but it is bland and without characterization,"Diego and James are both coming over with Rachel.

I don't mind the use of the Spanish pronunciation of Argentina, except for when they don't use it during A New Argentina. The voices are largely fine, but the album sounds rather hollow and soulless to me. The packaging is, indeed, beautiful though.

Would absolutely rather have Sherie than Juliette. The orchestrations and vocals for this production are largely lacking, but nice that it will be preserved.

I went to an advanced screening of the movie downtown hosted by Robbie Fairchild and the first 15 minutes were incredibly uncomfortable as everyone seemed to have to grapple with, "How exactly are we supposed to be reacting to this assault on the senses?" And then one person laughed and it broke the seal, ended up being one of my favorite nights at a movie theatre (and Robbie joined in the laughter).

Re: RAGTIME closing August 16th; Cast Changes in Final Weeks

Revisited the production at its closing performance and while my opinion on the production as a whole did not change, the work by many members of the cast was undeniable. Levy, Uranowitz, and Henry grew into something very special, Levy especially I think found such nuance as the run went on. And a special shout out to Nicholas Barrón and Ben Davis who stepped into the roles of Younger Brother and Father seamlessly. Barrón is a talent to watch.

They never actually wanted to stage the production in the round to begin with, Arena Stage asked them to because it was an expensive production and this allowed for more seats in the space. It will be restaged for a proscenium theatre. Circle in the Square is not big enough.

I think Jimin is immensely talented and I look forward to seeing them in the role. I find George Salazar borderline unwatchable and insufferable but such is life.

Re: Deaf West Revival of Whistle Down the Wind

New York Stage and Film is exclusively for workshops/readings, so that is exactly what I expected going into the performance on Sunday. I'm always happy to support Deaf West's work and I thought the performers were all very game and committed, but the material itself is kind of just dreck from start to finish.

It's also not as thought Columbia is the only role cast with a famous or "famous" person in the role. You have Luke Evans, Stephanie Hsu, Harvey Guillén, and Josh Rivera who are all known in different (and occasionally overlapping) demographics. I don't think Valentina is reaching an untapped market. The people that would pay to see Valentina in Rocky Horror are the people that would already pay to see a production of Rocky Horror.

THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW reviews

Saw the show yesterday afternoon after being very "meh" about it back in April. It's in much better shape now and I genuinely do credit a lot of that to Sherie. When Juliette opened the show, you had a person with a not great voice whose energy was so odd that it kind of started the whole thing on a bizarre note. Sherie enters looking like a million books, sounding as good as ever, and is so specifically weird that everyone who comes onstage afterwards has to now match what she did at the top ...

Rumor: CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL to close in August?

Jul 13, 2026 — 6:44:00 PM

Just incredibly, incredibly sad such a wonderful and inventive production couldn't take off the way it needed to. Will definitely be making a return visit or 2 before closing.
