It's also not as thought Columbia is the only role cast with a famous or "famous" person in the role. You have Luke Evans, Stephanie Hsu, Harvey Guillén, and Josh Rivera who are all known in different (and occasionally overlapping) demographics. I don't think Valentina is reaching an untapped market. The people that would pay to see Valentina in Rocky Horror are the people that would already pay to see a production of Rocky Horror.

Saw the show yesterday afternoon after being very "meh" about it back in April.It's in much better shape now and I genuinely do credit a lot of that to Sherie. When Juliette opened the show, you had a person with a not great voice whose energy was so odd that it kind of started the whole thing on a bizarre note. Sherie enters looking like a million books, sounding as good as ever, and is so specifically weird that everyone who comes onstage afterwards has to now match what she did at the top ...

Just incredibly, incredibly sad such a wonderful and inventive production couldn't take off the way it needed to. Will definitely be making a return visit or 2 before closing.

I found the performance completely soulless and devoid of any actual connection to A Chorus Line. The opening was excellent, I thought Cats came off very well, Ragtime as well. Chicago and BOM were fun. Schmigadoon wasn't the most interesting or exciting number but was probably the right choice of song. Rocky Horror was Rocky Horror, it didn't impress but it didn't deter. Lost Boys I thought felt incredibly messy and wasn't helped by poor camera work and some iffy vocals (I know Shoshana has been sick and I felt bad for her, Pajak is clearly on the cusp of puberty). Odd that Matteo Lane is the line that's going too far with casting when there have been multiple Housewives, Mormon Wives, and various other unproven actors/dancers/singers plugged into virtually every role in the show.

I'm generally not a Shoshana fan, but I found her performance in Lost Boys elevated the material. She was able to imbue the show with heart and humanity the rest of the show is sorely lacking. I'd be thrilled if she were to win. I've never understood the praise for Nichelle's performance and a win for her would be wholly unearned IMO.

Ragtime will not be extending to November.

I'm in my early 30s and have been lucky enough to see Joy in each of her NY theatre credits. While I agree that early in Gypsy's run I was left wanting by her Louise, by the end I thought she was damn near perfect and the way she, Audra, and Danny played off one another was magic to watch. Her Audrey in Little Shop was also heartbreaking. Wish I could see her as Sally and can't wait to see what else she does.I also mourn the loss of her Sarah in Ragtime. Ard is a really phenomenal Old Deuteronomy, had the audience in the palm of his hand from his first entrance and an incredibly powerful voice.Will never understand how Tempress wasn't nominated, but such is life.
