Saw it this evening after loving it so much in London and while I had some problems with the changes made and bits of the transfer, it was such a delight to revisit this beautiful show. The good and the high points are really truly high points. The ensemble is doing really impressive work, vocally a bit stronger than in London and the musicianship is really top notch. I think he would have made an exquisite Floyd in Floyd Collins. He left us with so many incredible performances to look back on, but perhaps what makes this all the more sad is thinking about all the roles he still had left to play ahead of him. A colossal lost for musical theatre.

Was lucky enough to attend last night and loved the material just as much as I did 10 years ago, perhaps even more. From the very start you could feel the joy radiating off the stage and the love these performers have for this show and just how much they wanted to showcase it as best as they possibly could. And every single one of them delivered. I think perhaps it is a blessing in disguise that the show was not preserved until now as everyone up there performed perhaps better than they did 1...

I continue to be baffled by the marketing for this show. Photos -- one rather unflattering picture of Solea which is shocking because she's absolutely gorgeous -- that seem better fit for an American Eagle ad, a strange video of them sweating on the subway (no shame, this summer's been killer), and a title that is a nightmare for SEO.

In the grand scheme of things, Amalia Yoo and Ryo Kamibayashi are both unknown. They have some decent credits but neither one of them is a marquee name.

Just need to jump in and echo the sentiments about Sherie's performance. She takes what is a small role on paper and turns it into something magnificent. She starts the show with such a specific and clear take on the material and pristine vocals, and it forces everyone who comes onstage after her to match that, which is something Juliette Lewis just was not able to do. Saw the cast's first performance. Norbert, Amber, and Ben are the reason to see this cast. Norbert especially is just unbelievable. Amber was a bit tentative but has such warmth and energy and obviously incredible pipes. Ben Davis was sexy, charming, and you sensed a real connection between Persephone and Hades. Yes, Jake's Audrey was Ellen Greene. I thought Betsy was quite good when I went during her first week, it was certainly a more subdued take but it worked for me. Nikki M. James was similarly sad, often at the expense of humor but it was heartbreaking to me. I think the production is pretty pitch perfect from start to finish and have revisited to see a number of the casts over the years. I think Ethan is exceptional.

Zane worked almost exclusively in regional theatre until he booked Fire Island at which point he pivoted to TV/film. But he has credits from Serenbe, Maltz Jupiter, North Shore, the Jack O'Brien Sound of Music tour, and others. Plus a BFA from Elon. If you really want to get specific, he actually does have more theatre credits than Luke Evans.

I don't mind the use of the Spanish pronunciation of Argentina, except for when they don't use it during A New Argentina. The voices are largely fine, but the album sounds rather hollow and soulless to me. The packaging is, indeed, beautiful though.

Would absolutely rather have Sherie than Juliette. The orchestrations and vocals for this production are largely lacking, but nice that it will be preserved.

I went to an advanced screening of the movie downtown hosted by Robbie Fairchild and the first 15 minutes were incredibly uncomfortable as everyone seemed to have to grapple with, "How exactly are we supposed to be reacting to this assault on the senses?" And then one person laughed and it broke the seal, ended up being one of my favorite nights at a movie theatre (and Robbie joined in the laughter).
