They're doing an open casting call for all roles next month. Even if they have their eyes on specific performers already, I doubt they're going to announce anyone before those happen.

Rumor is Sadie Sink and Joe Locke are cast already, based on what I’ve seen here and elsewhere. Sadie makes sense, given her continued working relationship with Danya Taymor. Joe would be a good get also since his reception in Sweeney Todd was very good.
She feels more like an Ilse than a Wendla, and he feels more like a Moritz than a Melchior, so I’ll be interested to see who they are if they are ultimately in the cast.
Also, Celia Rowlson-Hall’s choreography for The Testament of Ann Lee was far and away my favorite part of that movie. Her style feels very appropriate for the material.

Absolute dream team to tackle this material. If all the pieces fall into place as well as I'm imagining, this is going to be a very hot ticket.

Obviously things can change, but didn't Sadie Sink say in an interview that she wasn't interested in returning to musical theater?

Not sure. But I have to imagine working with a collaborator like Taymor on a smaller-scale production and not something like Annie makes it more attractive.

This was from last year:
Now that Sink’s done a play on Broadway, is a musical next?
Sink answers with a very firm and fast no. “That vocal technique and stamina, I don't think I'm ready to take that on,” she says.
A lot can change in a year, though. Between John Proctor and Romeo and Juliet, she's clearly enjoying being back on stage.

If they're going with Sadie, they should just create a Stranger Things reunion and cast as many of them as possible since many of them can sing.

As far as Sink singing the score, while Wendla and Ilse both sing a lot, neither is as vocally demanding to sing as a lot of other musical theatre roles are. So for someone who doesn’t want the demand of a difficult score to sing 8x a week this sounds perfect for her.

Kind of hope the [title of show] rumors are true so I can see that, Spring Awakening, and In the Heights all in the same weekend and pretend it's 2008 all over again.

Let's throw in August: Osage County while we're at it!

Makes sense, and she's been doing a lot of theater lately anyway. She is also starring and producing a show for FX later this year, so I doubt she's available.
Everyone on the OBC can sing incredibly well, so I doubt they would pick a person who physically can't do that or doesn't particularly want to.
Doing it in this space is very cool and no doubt, will be a hot ticket.

Funny that once again SO was right, someone created a topic back in May and so many were dismissive LOL
Hope this is a great production, will see come next april if it's still open.

Great decision to target off-Broadway, where it has a much better chance to return its investment. Particularly given the crazy state of Broadway costs, I just don't think a revival of SA would be a good bet for a long run (the original ran about 25 months and there were plenty of empty seats for months).minimally required to return its investment (uness the lead(s) really were powerhouse ticket sellers and committed to a decent run).

If Sadie does this I have to imagine tickets will be hard to get.
She’s quite a talented singer and has had a year to work on some stamina. Danya Taymor directing does make me think she might be on board.

but even so, I do like that Studio Seaview is making this an open call to give unknown stars a chance to shine...I mean for a show that 20 years ago (god it feels weird saying that, I feel so old) made future stars like Jonathan Groff, Lea Michele, John Gallagher Jr., Skylar Astin, Lilli Cooper, Krysta Rodriguez among others, it's only fitting that this show introduce the next generation of talent
