I did see this production finally, and it's very good. I was most impressed with Jessie Mueller and Steven Pasquale. Pasquale surprised me with his ability to really command the role of Sky Masterson. James Monroe Iglehart was a disappointing Nathan Detroit IMHO. He was fine, and he's obviously a talented guy, but I felt like he missed most of the opportunities for laughs. I didn't think he was a good fit. Kevin Chamberlin really had fun with his role, and Rachel Dratch as Big Jule was a hoot...

Anyone see this new production last night?

So, just posting that I saw the production of BACK TO THE FUTURE at the Adelphi in London about 2 weeks ago. My partner and I are huge fans of the movie, so we would be the ideal audience for it, I'm guessing. I knew going into it that there were some big plot changes, so I wasn't surprised by that. While it's a fairly slick production, I thought it was really bad. The songs are forgettable. Everything feels really rushed. The plot changes sort of make no sense, as if they are hoping you don'...

For those who have seen Broadway Phantom recently, how would you rate the current cast? I assume this will be the cast who plays through the end?

I appreciate reading everyone's feedback on this. I agree that a production doesn't have to be large-scale to be impactful, but that's not really what this is about. I've seen Les Miz 8 times now over the years, beginning in 1987 (I'm a former NYC resident and frequent NYC traveler), and the version I'm in love with is the big full-scale turntable original staging. Are there any other big Les Miz fans out there who follow Les Miz news, even now? I am going to be in London this Fall and was in the mood to see Les Miz, which is playing there. When I did a little research on the West End production, several people said that it was a way scaled back production that didn't even have the famed revolving turntable stage anymore. That alone makes me not want to see it, because Les Miz is meant to be big and impactful.So, it seems that there is a U.S. tour going...

It's interesting how the Funny Girl artwork and playbill is 100% an image of Beanie herself. This is a notable choice. Often times--most of the time--artwork for the show logo makes a point to be somewhat general so that it won't be a problem when casts change. The only time an actual face/likeness is used is when the show it completely identified with the star and no one else. This is a really curious choice as if it were sold on Beanie alone. They'll have to adapt that logo after Beanie lea...

Olive Garden is a garbage chain restaurant that tourists flock to in Times Square because they don't know any better. That's part of the problem. Broadway standards have dropped so low to get butts in seats. It's my belief that you cast TALENT above all else and, with proper marketing, word gets out. This is how stars used to be made.

I would love to see Julie in the role. More so than Lea, but Lea would be fine. Rosie would make me NOT see it 100%. No problem with Rosie as a person, but just awful in musicals IMHO. I get she's a name and tourists love her, but tourists also think The Olive Garden is a good Italian restaurant.

We all here on these boards and who care about show biz know who Beanie is, but outside of that she is definitely NOT well known at all. She's not a star. She's established and known in the industry, but I bet you go ask any random tourist in Times Square who she is, they won't know.
