Here is an explanation from the producer of Wizard of Oz Sphere when asked what was cut from the film:
“The 1939 movie is 102 min. The Sphere experience trims 27 minutes by shaving edits and some dialogue throughout, playing multiple shots simultaneously, truncating songs, and removing "If I was King of the Forest". Some of the removed shots were too intense for many audience members to be comfortable from a movement standpoint, and in some cases

On eBay, people have been selling those cheap Styrofoam apples that are dropped from the ceiling at the Wizard of Oz Sphere. Some of the prices are listed up to $500. An employee at the theater said that they drop 900 of those apples at every single performance. He encouraged people not to buy them on eBay.
If anyone who really knows the movie actually saw this, it would be great to hear details of what was cut from the 141 minutes to reduce it to a 75 minute running time.&nb

This is an excellent anonymous review of the Wizard of Oz at the Sphere theater that I found online:
”This is a one star so that the production team reads this. I enjoyed my night out. I love what you've accomplished and hope that this feedback can help improve things for future shows. This film comes incredibly close to being a masterpiece, but to go from a 9 to a 10 the visual effects needed polish. From what was shared about the production process, it seems the filmmakers

There’s no question that the experience of the tornado is exciting for a lot of people. I call it a hot mess because there is so much footage removed from the tornado scene and so much new footage added to the scene. Dorothy’s reaction shots are mostly absent. A lot of the people, animals, and objects floating by outside the window seen by Dorothy are gone. New images of the wicked witch and Toto floating around in the eye of the cyclones are present. If you love the movie an

It looks like Wizard of Oz sphere did a lot of cuts in the tin man scene. If I only had a heart goes on for only the first few lines. They cut out the middle section and the end section and most of the dance. It seems like they overlaid a full orchestra over the song and it sounds awful.

For the Wizard of Oz at the Sphere, they edited out 27 minutes and added in a lot of things that were not in the movie. “If I were king of the forest” is completely gone. They also cut four minutes out of the munchkin scene. There were several other trims throughout the entire movie to bring it down to 75 minutes so they could get turnover in the seats.
The AI background expanded practically every frame of the movie and looks very cheap. They added extra characters gen

Thanks for the information about the new unite the road actors equity contract. Apparently that was ratified in April 2023. It supersedes the old SETA contract. If you look at the old SETA contract, it appears that the producers had to negotiate the contract prior to beginning auditions. So I would be surprised if funny girl tour used the new touring contract because they began auditions in February 2023. During negotiations for the old SETA contract, the producers had to turn in a 52 week it

The original casting call for this tour stated that it would be under a SETA contract. Equity guidelines state that a SETA contract starts with a year run, but can be extended. I thought that was why the tour ended with an interruption and most people were leaving after a year. Did something change from the time this casting call was published in February 2023 for the tour to use something other than a SETA contract? The current IATSE page for this tour also indicates that it is a SETA contract tour.

Many of the ensemble cast members left in June. Several cast members will leave at the end of this week. It will be interesting to see who stays. Some of the ensemble members have also said that this is their last week. I’m not sure why everyone seems to be silent about what will happen when the show reopens in September.
